About Us
It was early in the year of two-thousand and six when Bonzai Anime began to take form, but it wasn't until later that summer, that it took its first steps. Based on the principle that Cosplay is not CosWEAR, but an embodiment of the character that the individual is trying to recreate, Bonzai Anime is not about winning or being on top. It's about having fun with friends and family while entertaining those around you. Bonzai Anime is family orientated and each member is interested in meeting new people and expanding their circle of friends. We strive to be the best that we are capable of and encourage others to do the same, by trying to inspire new ideas and innovate the art that is cosplay. As part of the fun activities, Bonzai Anime attends several conventions to, safely and responsibly, meet new cosplayers, challenge their cosplaying abilities, and grow as a group. Bonzai Anime is about friends, family, and the common bond that brings us together: Anime. BONZAI!!!!
Rules of Membership
All members are encouraged to refrain from making fun of, pointing out error, or insulting other cosplayers' costumes, or other people in general. Constructive criticism is welcome if requested.
All members must have positive attitudes. Any foul language or inappropriate behavior is strongly discouraged. Violators of these rules will be subject to suspension or termination of their Bonzai Anime member status depending on the severity of the situation. Reminder: Each member represents Bonzai Anime during all public events. All members are responsible for upholding a respectable image. Members should understand that their choice of actions and words will affect how the group is viewed as a whole.
We reserve the right to terminate your membership, with just cause and approval through a majority vote of the Bonzai Officers. If that occurs, there will be no refund of your dues for that year.
Alcohol is prohibited from official Bonzai rooms due to the fact that Bonzai is a family cosplay group. Public inebriation while representing Bonzai (Examples: Cosplay groups or photographers) is strongly discouraged and will be dealt with on an individual basis. However, alcohol is permitted outside of conventions and in the proper settings. (Examples: Bars at conventions, non-convention parties, etc.)
Communication amongst the members of Bonzai Anime is absolutely essential. It is highly recommended that members should check the official Bonzai Anime site [bonzaianime.net] regularly for news and updates regarding upcoming events [Such as meetings, conventions, hotel information, etc]. If this is not possible, please contact one of the Officers. It is highly recommended that one or more of the Bonzai Officers are added onto your contact list, so that any questions or concerns can be addressed with ease.
The ultimate goal of having these rules is so that Bonzai Anime can eliminate Executive power of the Officers within the group. This can be achieved by acquiring members who are enthusiastic and genuinely care about Bonzai Anime and the ideals it represents.
