In essence, a ’Street Team’ is a proactive, dedicated group of fans, friends, supporters who work together to promote and raise the profile of an artist / band that they believe in. Street Teams are vital tools for artists wanting to afford themselves the greatest opportunities and exposure in the competitive music bizz. Tony’s long awaited EP is now available online via CDbaby.com and iTunes and it is ESSENTIAL that it receives good promotion and sales from the off so that Tony’s talent is noticed by the powers that be in the music bizz. With the potential to spread the word to great numbers globally, the Tony Vincent Street Team now has a key role to play in taking Tony to the top, and to the realisation of his life’s ambition and dream. During times of personal struggle and despair Tony has reached out to many of us and touched our lives and healed our hearts with his inspirational and passionate words and melodies, so now it is time for us to group together and ’reach out’ to HIM, and OTHERS in need, by spreading his music of truth, hope and positive encouragement around the world!
STREET TEAM TIPS ’N’ BITS
Join the Tony Vincent Street Team and get interactive and get involved! Every fan’s contribution to the Street Team effort (no matter how big or small) is much valued and appreciated. Below are some tips and suggestions to help you get pullin for Tony!! ....
1) Keep updated by subscribing to Tony’s monthly newsletter and his Myspace Blog aswell as joining the tonyvincentworld.com Mailing-List for the latest news, announcements and performance dates.
2) Word of mouth. One of the easiest and most effective forms of street teaming. Simply talk of Tony’s music to family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues using the power of speech and, hey presto!, a ripple effect begins the world over.
3) Blog and banner Tony, all over the web! Share Tony’s music with others by posting banners, bulletins and blogs regularly on sites such as Myspace, Facebook, Gather, Livejournal, Blogspot and Bebo. Perhaps also consider re-posting (to your own friends) the bulletins / blogs that are put out by both Tony on myspace.com/tonyvincent and by the TVW team on myspace.com/tonyvincentworld. Aswell as posting them on the above social networking sites make one a groovy promotional addtion to your own websites and messageboard profile ’signatures’!
4) To encourage people unfamiliar with Tony Vincent’s music to take a listen and purchase the EP submit a review of it to both his iTunes and Cdbaby page.
5) Search online for related artist / music promotion / ’new’ and ’unsigned’ artist websites, and forums, and nicely post a message to introduce Tony’s music. Remember to use finesse and tact. Don’t harass people and be respectful of any place that you post. Above all don’t spam sites with multiple posts! Most of the time it is counter-productive and can sometimes, in severe cases, result in your losing your ISP (internet service provider) account. Spam has many different meanings, but mostly it is considered as sending large amounts of unsolicited e-mail meant to promote a product or service.
6) Ensure Tony is in your TOP Myspace friends and add his music to your profile.
7) Create a Link to tonyvincent.com in your email signature.
9) Wear Tony! Get creative and use sites such as cafepress.com to design your own ’Tony Vincent’ OR ’Tony Vincent Street Team’ promo Tee! (an OFFICIAL Tony Vincent Tee will be available to purchase online in the near future).
10) Distribute flyers at your school, club, or work place, and at Tony’s gigs. It is generally a good idea to ask the venue first for permission to pass materials out if you are planning on doing it inside. Alternatively, standing outside near the exit handing items out might present the best opportunity for getting to the most people as they leave the show.
11) Hang up flyers or posters. Good places to try are pubs, local colleges, internet cafes or wherever you can find places that might catch other music lover’s attention. Go crazy with them! Put them on post office bulletin boards, in bookstore windows, all over town. Visit the little stores as well as the big chains. Please remember there may be some areas where it is against the law to affix stickers/posters to public property such as telephone poles. You may wish to check first to make sure you are allowed to put anything in these areas.
12) Contact local publications. Call or e-mail local newspapers, magazines, college papers, etc. and ask if they will publish an article or an advertisement supporting Tony’s music and EP release.
13) Submit a request to local radio and college radio stations for air play of Tony’s EP. Also, email online internet radio stations that play the music of new and unsigned artists.
14) The EP will make a perfect gift, so why not pick up a few copies?! Christmas is coming! :-)
