The most popular band Dave Grohl has ever played in his been revealed on his 50th birthday.

The Foo Fighters frontman celebrated his birthday today (January 14) and not surprisingly the most popular band he ever played in over his 30 year career has been revealed to be Nirvana.

According to figures compiled by YouTube in 2018,  Nirvana had the most streams on the service with 22.9 million views.

They were closely followed by the Foo Fighters with 22.7 million views.

Many of his other collaborations including Queens Of The Stone Age and Jack Black’s Tenacious D had much lower viewing figures with 6.35 million and 4.68 million.

Finally, his supergroup project Them Crooked Vultures with Josh Homme and John Paul Jones had only 128,000 views.

In addition to this, the UK’s most watched Foo Fighters video of 2018 was ‘The Pretender’ with (5.96 million views) followed by ‘Everlong’ (2.16 million) and ‘Learn to Fly’ (1.74 million).

Meanwhile, a drunk fan recently hijacked a Foo Fighters show by jumping on stage and duetting with Grohl, before trying to climb on to Taylor Hawkins’ drum riser.

The show was the Foos’ first concert of 2019. Footage emerged last week of Grohl falling off stage at the gig, four years after he broke his leg falling off stage in Sweden which forced the band to cancel their headline show at Glastonbury where they were replaced by Florence + The Machine,

Foo Fighters, whose most recent album was 2017’s ‘Concrete And Gold’, return to the UK in August to headline Glasgow Summer Sessions, Vital Festival in Belfast and Reading And Leeds Festival. They also headline Dublin’s RDS Arena on August 21. Tickets for those shows can be bought here.
