Spidey meets Nick Fury...
Marvel has released the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, and it looks like Peter Parker is about to have a holiday like no other.
The first look at the superhero sequel sees Parker going on a European break with his friends, but it isn’t long before his past catches up with him.
We see him enjoying some time out in Venice, but it all changes when SHIELD boss Nick Fury finally makes his entrance and throws a superhero shaped spanner in the works.
Unsurprisingly, this means an unexpected diversion to London, where we’re greeted with the sight of Parker battling the forces of evil on Tower Bridge and some of the capital’s most recognisable sights.
But perhaps most excitingly, we’re finally treated to a glimpse of Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio – and it would appear that he could be teaming up with Parker, as opposed to initial reports that claimed he would the film’s main bad guy.
Elsewhere, we see Zendaya’s return as Marie Jane Watson, who still appears to be the apple of Spidey’s eye.
The first look at Gyllenhaal comes after he confirmed his introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year in his first-ever Instagram post. Captioned “I just realized I’m not playing Spider-Man”, the video showed the star reading an old issue of The Amazing Spider-Man comic series, with “the return of the man called Mysterio!” written on its cover.
“What the f…!” Gyllenhaal exclaimed as he lowered the comic to reveal his face.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is set for release on July 5.
