We invite you to become part of a noble and international effort: an International Coalition that works to protect the Cape fur Seals.
My goal is to grow an activist group of individuals all over the world, dedicated to making a difference in the future of the South African Seals.
There are no obligations involved, other than your sincere desire to give voice to the voiceless, spread info, sign petitions, send mails of support for the seals.
Seal Alert-SA was founded in 1999 by Francois Hugo as a direct hands-on organization to address and end the injustices, cruelty, and abuse that have plagued the Cape fur seal species for well over 600 years. Seal Alert's primary methods of action are investigation, rescue, and rehabilitation.
Seal Alert is the only organization in southern Africa that not only advocates for seals, but campaigns, protests, introduces protection legislation, and also, rescue seals every day. Some of the issues currently being addressed include banning guns at sea, stopping the slaughter of baby seals in Namibia, and rescuing seals from disentanglement and trawl net drownings. Seal Alert would ultimately like to see the seals re-established onto the islands that they have been diverted away from. Seal Alert seeks a protected and naturally-balanced marine environment.
