A Crazy Idea, Inc. is a new up and coming organization run by a diverse group of twenty year olds, who have given up their jobs and time to make this project a success. Lead by a belief in making a difference in the United States of America, They have already built this small dream into a full fledged big reality. Their main purpose for doing such a crazy thing? To show that America has almost lost it's compassion for our fellow Americans in need. In only 6 months they have brought this from a simple idea to reality of a full agency!
Watching the news and realizing there was a great need for volunteers in the gulf coast after Hurricane Katrina, also other areas of the country that needed help besides the hurricane struck gulf coast and seeing the government funding going nowhere, it was then Clay Laugier and Brandi Oaks decided that if they wanted to see a change they would have to pioneer that for them selves. They called on friends and family to help in their mission. And so far the Crazy IDEA CREW have.
THE IDEA: Is it really a crazy idea to do what ever it might be that you can to help? even if it is just sending a letter to your senator, or forwarding an email on the internet? even going to help a community in need. Is it such a crazy idea to change the human service field for the better to get staff trained, to make common sense programs that help people not just look good on paper. Find ways to change your community for the better, Help someone in need. It all makes our country and world a better place. its the perfect time for CRAZY IDEAS, That’s with everything that is going on in our country and the world we need to still be able to stop and think about what’s going on in our communities we live in!
We know the best way to do things is not to reinvent the wheel in all cases with crazy ideas but to take already existent programs and make them A CRAZY IDEA, Inc affiliates so that we can help them grow and bring common sense programs that work to the communities they serve.
How our young people are raised, what "HUMAN/AMERICAN VALUES" are we leaving in the minds of our young people in America today! these Values are basic and have nothing to do with religion or political beliefs : To be a good person, Help those in need, Self Respect, Respect for others, leave the mark that not just learning in school but any kind of learning is a great treasure, to teach that it is one thing to follow but another thing to lead, that you can change the world if you work for it, belief in hard work (note this is not just physical but mental too), Believe in something positive, To Remember what our Forefathers wanted From this land of hope land of the brave and home of the free!
Our Vision:
A CRAZY IDEA, Inc. is a group of individuals who have banned together for a common cause. THE IDEA: Is it really a crazy idea to do what ever it might be that you can to help? It all makes our country and world a better place. its the perfect time for CRAZY IDEAS, That’s with everything that is going on in our country and the world we need to still be able to stop and think about what’s going on in our communities we live in! We bring together direct care workers, parents, youths, volunteers, random people, religious leaders, and political leaders. We are set up to enable and educate The American people to help them selves. We also consider our selves a support agency for direct care workers, parents, youths and volunteers in the USA. This has nothing to do with your religious beliefs or political ones, but everything to do with helping another human, another American in need!
The goal of A Crazy Idea is ultimately to share these peoples stories- to reach you, to open up your eyes and your heart. What are you doing to help those in need right in your own town? Has America lost its values for which this great nation was built on? We're all too busy lost in a modern day society focused on, What’s in it for me? - eating spoonfuls of celebrity gossip, absorbed with meaningless media and pop culture and have forgotten to slow down to enjoy our families, each other, and life in general.
Who are we, and what has the human race become? As we move forward let us not forget that we are not tin men, we are real humans with real human hearts. We need to outstretch our hands and stop living in OZ.
Is it that crazy to take the time to make a difference? Not at all. What’s crazy is passing the poor man on the corner and not even giving so much as a kind word of hope! What’s crazy is knowing that the child two doors down is growing up with out a father, who is lonely and needs someone to talk to- someone to tell him not to loose sight of his dreams! What’s crazy is not speaking out about issues that are affecting you in your own home town and nationally! What’s crazy is not voting! What’s crazy is watching the news and not getting up off the couch and doing something- anything to make this world a better place! That’s crazy!
What if their story was your story? How would you feel if you lost everything? And where would you be now? What would your town look like? And what would you want to tell others? What would you want others to do? Get out and change the world you can do it! Everything counts! As a team we can tie the world back together!
We are taking on every human service field aspect from helping end poverty, working as a disaster relief organization, Volunteer outreach, creating person centered programs for disabled adults, and of course community outreach programs that really help
Some of the social justice issues we have dealt with: improved housing conditions for the economically disadvantaged, increase community safety, secure living wages for all workers and improve the quality of local schools.
We have begun a to build partnerships not only with grassroots organizations our country but in other countries as well. Through these partnerships, A CRAZY IDEA, Inc will help to strengthen democratic movements for social change abroad, and at home. While continuing our efforts building a networking, funds sharing, community growing, volunteering/civic duty program here in the USA.
We at A CRAZY IDEA, survive on grassroots fundraisers, concerts, private donors and other products. We do this so that we can help not just our community groups grow but help other non profits grow.
Our Documentary Goals
To bring awareness to the destruction of one of the worst natural disasters in American
history.
To show volunteers who have given up everything to help others in need
To get supplies for the groups and volunteers through use of main stream media
To Not let the American people forget about those in need in its own country!
To tell the stories of the small towns and their people who seem to be forgotten in the mist of the damage in New Orleans.

To teach the youth of self empowerment and that we are the only ones who can take a stand

To raise the standards/Bar for direct care workers and the service provided by direct care workers and agencies
To create programs that can be used in other agencies as tools and standards for the social service field.
To change how direct care agencies in America work i.e. treat consumers, young people, staff, volunteers and create functioning programs that are supporting the direct care worker, family and persons in need.

Here is the only language that is to be used in addressing persons we here at A CRAZY IDEA, Inc. bring services to.
Individual- a person we serve in either one of our youth outreach programs or supportive houses.
Consumer (main terminology)- defined the same as individual but must be put into context with program “ Youth consumer”, “Consumer” or “Consumer with disabilities”
Direct care worker- some one who works one on one with consumer. I.e. Teachers, Nurses, volunteers, and mentors
Direct Care Aide- High school or college student being trained using the latest direct care training and hands on training ACI can offer.
Mentor- is either paid or volunteers their time and knowledge to help the consumers we serve better them selves and their community.
Volunteer- A person who donates their time to any number of programs that ACI has to offer.
