Jessica Danser/dansfolk is a contemporary dance company founded in 2005. I founded the company with the vision of creating modern dance rooted in traditional forms while boldly exploring the boundaries of contemporary and post-modern movement. It is my goal to create a repertoire of work which is accessible to dancer, dance aficionado, and non-dance exposed individuals alike, by utilizing abstract movement to express themes relevant to todays society.
JD/dansfolk has performed at venues including the NuDanceNow festival at the Riverside Church, the HATCH series at The Works Studios, the Arts-in-the-Park festival in Greenwich, CT, the Player's Loft Theatre, the Astoria Dance Centre, WAXworks, the BAAD! ASS Women's Festival and the Boogie Down Dance Festival at BAAD in the Bronx.
Jessica Danser is a Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) awardee from the Bronx Council on the Arts.
