We are very fortunate to have hard-working volunteers who give up so much time to work at the Athens Animal Shelter, where the MRHS has its headquarters. Thousands and thousands of manhours have been donated to the shelter to ensure the best quality care for our stray animals throughout the county.
If you would like to volunteer, please contact the MRHS at 423.744.9548 on weekdays from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. or on Saturdays from noon until 4:00 p.m.
There are so many ways in which you can volunteer at the shelter.
Here are just a few of the ways that you can make a difference!
We need you now more than ever!!! Whatever help you can provide will be greatly appreciated by all of the volunteers and animals at the shelter.
1. Providing companionship to shelter animals awaiting adoption (walking and brushing dogs, brushing and socializing cats, etc.)
2. Assist with grooming, bathing and dipping.
3. Clean cages and general help with animals.
4. Greeting customers entering the shelter to explain adoption procedures, lost pet information, and assisting in pet selection.
5. Assisting in fundraising activities such as bake sales and special events such as the annual "Bark in the Park" to raise money for projects to increase pet adoptions or to make the pets more comfortable while waiting to be adopted.
6. Assisting with administrative work such as preparing reports and filing information. |
