For more than 200 years, the Democratic Party has represented the interests of working families, fighting for equal opportunities and justice for all Americans. Today, Democrats continue that fight with a firm commitment to the values that we all share as Americans: a secure nation that leads in the world, strong economic growth and new jobs, affordable health care for all Americans, and a better education for our children.

"If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships - the ability of all peoples, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace."

- President Franklin D. Roosevelt

Minnesota Decision: Supreme Court Rules For Franken, Coleman Concedes

AP/Huffington Post, By Brian Bakst

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered that Democrat Al Franken be certified as the winner of the state's long-running Senate race.

The high court rejected a legal challenge from Republican Norm Coleman, whose options for regaining the Senate seat are dwindling.

Justices said Franken is entitled to the election certificate he needs to assume office. With Franken and the usual backing of two independents, Democrats will have a big enough majority to overcome Republican filibusters.

Coleman accepted the loss shortly after the decision was announced, saying he had few regrets.

The Obama Administration will look to the challenges we face as a nation with the same spirit of determination and optimism that characterized President-Elect Obama’s campaign. From the beginning, the campaign was about a nation tired of the same old politics, a nation eager to stand up and lead the world in a new direction. It was a campaign calling for change – to restore prosperity, create jobs, and cut taxes for the middle-class; to make health care and college more affordable; to invest in new energy sources, set a timetable to end the war in Iraq responsibly and restore our standing in the world.

    Rules:

    1) Treat Others As You Would Like to Be Treated.

    2) Trolling profiles are prohibited to join the forum. Profiles that are, in fact, advertisements for particular companies, pornographic websites, etc. are not allowed to join the forum.

    3) Violent profiles will be deleted. This largely applies to profiles graphically advocating any violence against certain ethnic groups/nationalities/religions/sexual orientation or individual person (ie. I hate Blacks or Gays) or purporting to have participated in such violence. This is against Myspace TOS.

    4) Abusive language, especially constant ad hominem attacks, will NOT be tolerated. This includes being condescending, rude, and the like. KEEP IT CIVIL. This is a Democratic forum and not a debate group between the left and right. The goal of this group is to Organize, Mobilize and Inform Democrats. Period!

    5) Do not retaliate with insults in such a way that it would negate the actual topic of the thread.

    6) Do not attack an individual because you might believe that the topic is ridiculous or does not belong on the forum. Flaming will not be tolerated.

    7) "Trolling" will NOT be allowed at all.

    8) If the moderator asks to cease a conversation that is inflammatory, please comply with him. If he emails you a warning, a literate polite e-mail in reply is the only acceptable form of communication with the Moderator. Hate Mail or Flaming in Retaliation to the warning will lead to a BAN.

    9) Threads that are deemed inappropriate will be deleted by the mod without notice.

    10) Graphic materials or links to any graphic materials will be deleted. Any member who violates this rule may be subject to a ban without a warning. Also, please do not post oversized graphics as it ruins the framing of the group. Resize the appropriate image first and then post.

    11) Please avoid posting the same topic repeatedly or variations of a single topic at a given time. It will keep the forum clean.

    12) Threads advocating the Candidacy of Non-Democratic Candidates will be considered Off-Topic and will be deleted. This is a Democratic Forum here to assist in the election of Democratic Candidates ONLY.

    13) Please keep your thread topic titles SHORT AND TO THE POINT. Long Titles are extremely annoying.

    14) Please post Authorative Sources when replying to threads if possible. (Blogs are not usually considered sources as they are debatable). This will support your post as true and help ensure unresearched or erroneous topics aren’t posted.

    15) Once a member is banned, they become a persona non grata in this room and will be rebanned if appearing under a fake profile.

    16) Anyone posting photos of other members’ myspace profile pics without their permission will be banned immediately and profile deletion will be requested. Members have a right to be treated with respect even if you disagree with them and not intentionally humiliated.

    17) Lastly and most importantly, spamming has Zero Tolerance in this group. All Spammers will be reported to Myspace Customer Care for profile deletion as well as banned and blocked. This includes anyone who alters threads through stylesheets, errors them out, posts overly large images or long names and is just generally disruptive. In severe cases, appropriate legal action will be taken if necessary. Internet Harassment is Illegal and a waste of time for everyone.

NEW 18) Don't bash the president-elect and his choice for vice-president. This group is united behind Barack Obama. If you don't agree with this stance, well you can always click on the resign button.

    Peace,
    DNC
