About three in every ten Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash at some time in their lives.
In 2005, out of 43,443 deaths from car acidents, 16,885 were due to alcohol related accidents, that is 39 percent.
Of the children 0-14 years old who were killed in alcohol-related crashes during 2003, 47 percent (209) were passengers in vehicles with drivers who had been drinking.
Approximately 1.4 million drivers were arrested in 2003 for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. This is an arrest rate of 1 for every 135 licensed drivers in the United States
