I would like to thank everyone who has supported me the past 2 years. I was all gung-ho about jumping into this race, and becoming your next state representative.
However, with the election of Matt Gabler, change has finally come to the 75th district. Matt Gabler's election goes beyond party preference or ideology. In this toss-up district, which leans mainly Democratic, a win by a Republican is somewhat unheard of. It's even more unheard of when the county that he represents goes to the Democratic candidate for President in the same election cycle, and extremely unheard of when a bleeding heart liberal like myself fully supports the election of a Republican like him.
However, Matt is beyond partisan politics. It's all about the constituents, and whether or not he can serve them well. Do we have disagreements on things like gay marriage or stem cell research? Yes. Do we agree on things like the tolling of I-80, which is more important to the people of Elk County? Yes.
So, with this, I bow out of the race for 2010 State Representative. I hope to run for public office in the future, if the demand for it is such. However, I feel it is important for all of us to unite behind Representative Gabler as he works for us in Harrisburg. |
