A lot of people aren't even aware of this, but biracial and multiracial people do not have a box that correctly identifies their race on forms. Most of the time we are forced to choose only one race, or classify ourselves as "other". In addition to being inaccurate, this also forces us to do something that could be considered illegal, since we are defining ourselves as something we are not. With the rapid explosion of multiracial people in our country, there needs to exist an option of accurately recognizing all of our heritage. "Multiracial" is important so that children have an identity, a correct terminology for who they are... "Other" means different, a label that no person should bear.
