Starting May 1, your band will be able to enter AP's Fake Cover Contest. How to get involved:
1. Use the materials provided (see group images) to design your own AP cover which must include:
a)the official AP cover contest logo (provided)
b)your band's name
c)a tag for altpress.com (provided)
d)at least one extra line of text describing your band (i.e., "The near-collapse of the Academy Is..." or "The family values of Saosin") or what is in the issue (i.e, "The return of Glassjaw" or "AP's Health And Fitness Special").
We will use creativity with cover text as a tie-breaker for picking winners if needed.
2. Post your cover on your band's MySpace page as your default image, then spread the word with your fans to also post your fake cover as their default image. After a fan makes your cover their default image, instruct them to join this private group. Only people with fake AP covers as their defaults will be allowed to join.
3. You have until June 10th to get as many people as possible in this group with your cover as their default. We will be tallying votes throughout the month at random intervals, so it's in your best interest to get your fans to leave your cover as their default for the entire month to make sure their vote counts. Final tallies will be made on June 11th and 12th, with winners being announced here and through the AP MySpace page on June 13.
ENOUGH RULES, ALREADY -- WHAT CAN I WIN???
If your band's fake cover gets the most support, your band will win:
A profile in a future issue of AP, including a picture of your fake cover
A free 1-year subscription to AP for each member
Free AP merch for your band
This contest is open to ALL bands -- signed or unsigned, major label or indie, American or international. Even if your band has been on the cover of AP before, you can still enter, as long as it's a new image. Seriously!
THE FINE PRINT
No pornographic, bigoted or otherwise offensive images and/or text allowed
You must use the AP fake cover contest logo provided and cannot alter it in any way (except contextually and artistically).
AP reserves the right to disqualify a contestant and/or close the contest early without explanation. |
