The group is composed mostly of Cubans who have endured living under Castro's oppressive regime or whose family or friends have. NO disrespect of any kind towards their views will be tolerated.
This is a "G-rated" group. No palabras sucias ni insultos (no cussing/insults of any kind). Let's talk con civilidad y madurez...porque si no...your post will be deleted.
This group is against Fidel Castro and what he's done to Cuba. Others with a different view are welcomed to join and participate so long as they follow group guidelines and understand that most of this group's members (or their families and friends) have experienced Fidel Castro's ideology first hand and, as the saying goes, "a man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument."
This group is for members of the Cuban exiled community to talk about our Cuban culture, our nostalgia and memories, both good and bad, happy and sad. We talk about how we were personally affected or how our family or friends were personally affected since Fidel Castro took power in 1959.
"Isla de mi corazón / Island of my heart" is the working title of a forthcoming middle grade novel. It's also the sentiment many Cubans have about their homeland. Andy Garcia encapsulated this feeling in his movie, "The Lost City." [Shown in the YouTube video clip on this page.]
The experiences and thoughts we share in this group may be our own, our families, or that of Cubans we know. They are all valid and they're all uniquely ours. So…let's remember and talk about Cuba…the Island of our hearts.
**Slideshow: HUGE thanks to group members who shared their photos of Cuba to be used in the slideshow. Bracketed at the end of each slide caption is the name/initials of the person who took the photo and year it was taken. Enjoy some Cuban music while watching it.**
