The Loyal Nine believes all peoples are entitled to freedom regardless of race, religion, sex or ideology. In the wake of 9-11, the new “Patriot Act Culture” threatens the freedom and especially the voices of everyone in this country. Indefinite detentions, denial of due process, denial of lawyers, unwarranted searches and wiretapping are only a few of the unconstitutional actions of this law. The Loyal Nine views the Patriot Act as the largest threat to this country, especially to political activists. If a citizens constitutional liberties are taken away, then that citizens ability to speak up on issues he/she believes in is also taken away. Currently, hundreds of cities have made resolutions against the Patriot Act, and the emerging movement is uniting both conservatives and liberals. We wish this MySpace group to become a tool to unite all these cities together, to step up our efforts to the state and federal levels. Our goal is strictly to preserve the freedoms of all peoples.
