for all the armenians, half-armenians, and the people who love us :0)

For those who don't know a lot about Armenia: Armenia is a landlocked country in the southern Caucasus mountains, between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. The original Armenian name for the country was Hayq, later Hayastan, translated as the land of Haik. According to legend, Haik was a great-great-grandson of Noah and according to Christian tradition, a forefather of all Armenians. Hayastan was given the name Armenia by the surrounding states, as it was the name of the strongest tribe living in the historic Armenian lands, who called themselves Armens.Armenians have their own highly distinctive alphabet and language. 96% of the people in the country speak Armenian, while 75.8% of the population speaks Russian as well. The adult literacy rate in Armenia is 99%. Most adults in Yerevan can communicate in Russian, while English is increasing in popularity...
The American University of Armenia has graduate programs in Business and Law, among others. The institution owes its existence to the combined efforts of the Government of Armenia, the Armenian General Benevolent Union, USAID, and the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley. The extension programs and the library at AUA form a new focal point for English-language intellectual life in the city. Many of the countrys most successful young entrepreneurs are graduates of this institution.

I should like to see any power in this world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people whose history is ended, whose wars have been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, whose literature is unread, whose music is unheard, and whose prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy this race! Destroy Armenia! See if you can do it. Send them from their homes into the desert. Let them have neither bread nor water. Burn their homes and churches. Then, see if they will laugh again, see if they will not sing and pray again. For, when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia. - William Saroyan
