Food Not Bombs Kuala Lumpur (FNBKL) is an independent, do-it-yourself, non-hierarchical collective
consisting of a number of individuals who organize and participate in the collection,
preparation and distribution of free food for the city's homeless & destitutes.

We believe that hunger and poverty are not necessary, especially in a society which disposes
of so much perfectly edible and safe foodstuff out of commercial interest. We
save and recycle "commercially-unwanted" foodstuff by gathering it
from commercial outlets around town. We will then cook and serve free meals
on the streets of KL every weekend.

We do this as a form of protest and also in order to raise awareness to the problems of wastage
and unfair food distribution in our society. We also aim to empower the urban
homeless & destitute community with solidarity, knowledge and basic living
skills.

Help is always needed from you. We are in constant need of your solidarity, donations and manpower
to keep this activity consistent and effective. We are thankful for anything
which you can help us with, and appreciate your efforts in providing our fellow
human beings struggling on the streets with their basic needs which the society
at large took for granted.

The Food Not Bombs Story

Food Not Bombs is one of the fastest growing revolutionary movements active in North America
today and is gaining momentum all over the world. There are hundreds of autonomous
chapters sharing vegetarian food with hungry people and protesting war and poverty
throughout the Americas, Europe and Australia. The first group was formed in
Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1980 by anti-nuclear activists.

Food Not Bombs is an all volunteer organization dedicated to nonviolence. Food Not Bombs has
no formal leaders and strives to include everyone in its decision making process.
Each group recovers food that would otherwise be thrown out and makes fresh
hot vegetarian meals that are served in city parks to anyone without restriction.
The groups also serve free vegetarian meals at protests and other events. The
San Francisco Chapter has been arrested over 1,000 times in an effort to silence
its protest against the Mayor's anti-homeless policies. Amnesty International
states it may adopt those Food Not Bombs volunteers that are imprisoned as "Prisoners
of Conscience" and will work for their unconditional release.

Food Not Bombs works in coalition with groups like Earth First!, The Leonard Peltier Defense
Committee, Anarchist Black Cross, the IWW, Homes Not Jails, Anti Racist Action,
In Defense of Animals, the Free Radio Movement and other organizations on the
cutting edge of positive social change and resistance to the new global austerity
program. One collective publishes a movement wide newsletter called A Food Not
Bombs Menu. There is also a German language Menu. Food Not Bombs Publishing
in Takoma Park, Maryland publishes books like On Conflict and Consensus which
has been an important guide for group democracy. We hope you will join us in
taking direct action towards creating a world free from domination, coercion
and violence. Food Not Bombs Kuala Lumpur was formed in the year 2000 by people from the music scene, activist, punks etc.. Now FNBKL is still serving food every SUNDAY at Jalan Bukit Nenas. We cook at Bau Bau Cafe, Central Market Annexe, 3p.m. Please do come and help out!! We welcome everyone!

NAMA


Memprotes ke atas jumlah wang yang banyak dibelanjakan untuk peralatan perang (dan projek mega-terutama
di Malaysia) sementara rakyat biasa dinafikan ke atas keperluan asas mereka.

KITAR SEMULA MAKANAN


Kebanyakan bahan kami adalah dikitar semula dari pasar. Bahan yang diperolehi dianggap tidak
dapat dijual kerana kecacatan kosmetik tetapi sebenarnya masih boleh dimakan.
Kami tahu kekurangan sumber makanan adalah satu penipuan besar, kerana terdapat
banyak makanan untuk semua orang dan masalah sebenar ialah pengagihan makanan
yang tidak adil dan tidak manusiawi.

VEGGIE POWER


Kami tidak prejudis terhadap daging jika ada yang hendak mendermanya dan boleh menjamin keselamatan
makanan tersebut. Oleh kerana kami mengunakan makanan yang dikitar semula, untuk
memastikan keselamatan produk kedagingan adalah mustahil dan pengawalan kualiti
sayuran adalah lebih mudah. Lagipun, makanan vegetarian adalah menyihatkan dan
mengandungi banyak vitamin dan mineral yang berkhasiat.

PENGIKHTIRAFAN


Kami terpanggil untuk solidariti atas usaha menentang kemiskinan. Semua orang berhak ke atas
kehormatan yang samarata tanpa mengira status sosial dan/atau keadaaan ekonomi.
Kewujudan kemiskinan mesti di bincangkan secara terbuka dan bukan di sembunyikan
dari pandangan umum.

ANTI-KEGANASAN


Kemiskinan, kebuluran, dan kehilangan tempat tinggal adalah satu bentuk keganasan yang disebabkan oleh
keutamaan kerajaan yang sudah tidak betul. Kami memprotes ke atas hasil kekayaan
yang dibelanjakan ke atas peperangan dan senjata sementara rakyat dinafikan
hak mereka ke atas makanan dan tempat perlindungan. Kami mengunakan pengagihan
dan mengkongsian makanan, penyebaran literasi dan hiburan sebagai perkongsian
pesanan dan satu bentuk PROTES!

KONSESUS


Semua anggota adalah sama dan mempunyai hak samarata untuk mengemukakan pendapat. Satu usaha kesedaran
dibuat untuk cuba melibatkan semua orang dalam proses membuat keputusan.

TIDAK MENGAMBIL KEUNTUNGAN


Sedikit atau tiada wang yang terlibat; semua makanan adalah diderma. Tiada bayaran untuk bekerja-
kami semua adalah SUKARELAWAN!

POLITIK


Anggota FNB terdiri daripada latarbelakang dan ideologi politik yang berbeza-beza; berfikir secara
sendiri adalah digalakkan. Tidak terdapat othoriti dalam kumpulan ini. Semua
orang adalah sama! Anggota menyertai dengan pelbagai sebab; kami semua hanya
mahu membantu!!
