Divine is creating a success story that almost writes itself.

-One to Watch, The Spokesman Recorder

Divinewords, 23, is a Los Angeles based interdisciplinary artist from St. Paul, Minnesota. This emcee turned poet is changing the face of Spoken Word with her thoughtful expressions, mixed with hardcore in-your-face truth, and an unforgettably dynamic stage presence. Anyone who has ever experienced the power of her talent can tell you that when you come to see Divine, you come to be inspired as well as entertained.

She has been dedicated to community arts since she was in junior high, and has been a professional performer for over 5 years. She has shared the stage with legendary artists such as The Last Poets, Ursula Rucker & Carl Hancock Rux as well as nationally known artists like The Abstract Pack, The C.O.R.E. (Children of Righteous Elevation), Eyedea of the Rhymesayers Collective, and Slug of Atmosphere. She has been featured at The Historical State Theatre, MN; The Penumbra Theatre, MN; Princes Paisley Park, MN; Club Mecca, WI; and the legendary Nuyorican Poets Café, NY. She was also the 2003 feature artist for Dont Believe the Hype which aired on KTCA-TV in Minnesota. Divine has taught and featured at several colleges including The University of Minnesota and The University of Wisconsin. She also is a budding journalist who is knocking out interviews with hip-hop heavyweights and Hollywood's Elite!

In 2002, she released her first self-published book The Syntax of Love and Aspiration that has been immensely successful in grassroots Spoken Word communities all around the country. In 2004, she is following up The Syntax with her second poetry book Waterless Tears Die Hard, which is a collection of unreleased poetry combined with essays and social comentary. Currently, Divine is writing her first novel There are no Homegirls in Woodbury and continuing her studies towards her BA.

In her free-time she enjoys cooking vegetarian food, reading, and spending time with her family.
