we are celebrating a couple of things, and want all of you all to come out.
1- if you havent heard, we are movin our shop from 109 1/2 park ave. in downtown pharr, to the Mc2 in the barrio in south of downtown mcallen. this is a great move for us, we are stoked since we have been waiting 2 years to be invited into the Mc2.
2- el senor canguru was born on this day.
so, what this means is a going away- moving into a new spot- vinyle sale- birthday party! thats right, we have been clearing out the shop, and are going to leave a soundsystem, our new & used vinyle 4sale, a listening station, and the motivation to get down.
THE INVITE- come join us to close out the last day @ UPLIFT! world headquarters in pharr. ALL vinyle is on sale. In our used bins, all vinyle is $5.00 a plate $10.00 a double pack, and all the NEW VINLE is $8.00 a plate or 3 plates for $20.00.

HAPPY HOUR @ the LIONS DEN... they have fat tire on tap, and i believe happy hours serves em up at 1.50 a pint. come gift the birthday boy a fat tire! and the lions den is only 20 feet away!

MUSICA
DJ NomaZ of Weslaco is offering to bring some vinyl and needles to spin a set, early on.
Ronnie Garza is offering to perform his experimental music. {One of his works is on our homepage}
Taller Son Jarocho might make an appearance and perform an acoustic set that invites public participation of some Son Jarocho.
Cloak & Dagger are planning a guerrilla set.
Bosco of the STARSOUNDSYSTEM & DISCOTRASH.net camp will be dropping a special ecclectica set.
dj canGURU will fill in the gaps & mend the seams as necessary.
and any other dj freind in the movement, bring yer recs, as im sure we will have space for some tag teams & surprises.

Directions: US EXPY 83 exit Cage/Pharr exit and go south approx. 1.5mi on Cage. Turn left on Park Ave. (The 1st street after you cross Business 83). Uplift! Movement is located on the North side of Park Ave.
so the idea is an unnofficial grand opening gathering.... I-MENOS has confirmed setting up a grafitti stenciling craft fair (tents & all) & harnessing what he calls TANGUIS (aka an artist swap meet/flea market/fair.) we got permission from the owner of the lot next to our shop to do this. we’d like to build up a small stage for the artists, and have a small PA set up for this outdoor art space. if we cant secure the PA, we WILL have the turntables set up in the store for the djs to play inside (wired speakers outside.) with this in mind dj freind - bring a small set to share, im sure there will be space to play a set for us all.
food & beverages, if youd like to contribute by bringing something to share, please do, consider it a pot luck. we plan on having snaks as hummus, bread, cheese, coldcuts, healthy natureal sodas, (DAGGERweldon & ruby mentioned they were bringing some sushi platters) chips & salsa, etc. this is not a get crunk party, so alcoholic beverages are on a byob style if you are of age & are willing to take your own responsibility with dealing with the law if you have to. for those freinds of age, we are willing to hold your beverage behind our counter in the store (someone bring an ice chest!).
the idea behind the TANGUIS is to bring out your tradeables/sellables/arts/crafts/mixes/jewery/old records/ etc, and enchourage your freinds too, come out & mingle, trade, barter, sell, make connections, visit our store/hood, make art with the I-MENOS crew, make community & communication with iech other.
