I have a story to tell you... I have come to the realization that I have been blessed, and it took me almost 3 years to figure out how truly lucky I am to be alive. On July 10th, 2003, I was driving home from a birthday party at a club here in Reno, and I had been drinking all night. I decided to drive home, and fell asleep at the wheel going 80 miles per hour. I ran my car into a huge rock pile where construction was happening and rolled my car 3 times. I was only 1 block away from home. The only injuries that occured were bruises and cuts. The entire car was totaled except for the drivers side. (picture .1). 4 months later on Novmeber 10th, I was with a friend who had recently bought a Lexus IS 300 at my own birthday party. Again, we had all been drinking throughout the night. He and I decided to take the car out and see "how fast it could go". We had the car up to 130 mph before we turned a sharp curve, and the car flipped 3 times into the next lane, and an incoming truck hit us on the passenger side of the car. I remember thinking that I was going to die when I saw the headlights. But I didn't. I suffered from a broken collarbone, boken ribs and broken ankles. (picture.2)
Ironically, the accidents were both on the 10th of each month, and both times I was supposed to be celebrating life (birthday parties). The point of my story is to educate people of drunk driving, and maybe help the people who still do, to change that.
