If you love cats or are a cat this is a group for you!! This group is for polys and non polys. But wait¡¦. what is a polydactyl cat. Polydactyl cats are cats with extra toes. It is a mutation and is a dominate gene. The most widely known colony of poly cats is in Key West at the old Hemingway mansion. Ernest was given an extra toed feline by a ships captain. Now at his museum (old mansion) there are 60 cats some polys some aren't but what cool is that there is still descendants of that first cat. To learn more about Hemingway cats click here. Polydactyl cats are also known as mitten cats, thumb cats, six toed cats and Hemingway cats. The most recorded toes is 28 which is 7 on each foot. For more about polydactyl click here.


I started this group because I have 2 polydactyl cats. Both were born under my bed on 3-28-04 at 3pm. Their mom is a poly and 4 out of 5 kittens are poly as well. Right now we are sending out requests if you like cats we would really like for you to join our group. If we sent you a request and you are already a member sorry, thats for being a member!!
