--------------------------------------------------- WELCOME NEW MEMBERS ---------------------------------------------------

I want to welcome all the new members who joined TangoNYC in the last few weeks and months. I know a lot of you personally. But some I don’t. Please take a moment to introduce yourselves (under the "New Members" Topic)and a tango experience with the group. If you’re not sure what to write, include responses to the following:

1) Your name (optional)
2) How long you’ve danced the tango?
3) What was your first tango experience?
4) What was your FAVORITE tango experience?

I’m Ray, the founder and moderator of the TangoNYC group. I’ve been dancing tango for several years after having had many years of lessons in Ballroom. My initial introduction to tango did not go well and around 1996 I had sworn I would never attempt tango again. However on one fateful night in New York City’s Central Park, I had a second introduction with my two favorite tango instructors Robin Thomas and Jennifer Bratt who not only taught me the Tango walk in a half hour, they gave me a glimpse of the immense beauty and self-expressiveness inherent in the tango, and how much you can accomplish with just a few steps (forward, backward and side steps), lessons I have never forgotten, and which has guided my steps ever since. After all the years of ballroom, I had finally discovered in the Tango, the dance that expresses the feeling and desire of my heart my heart. Thank you Robin, Jennifer.

Please feel free to share if you so desire.
