Break out of your "Rusty Cage" and enter The Superunknown. A tribute to one of the greatest bands of all-time... SOUNDGARDEN. The name comes from a pipe sculpture named "Sound Garden" that stands in Magnuson Park in Seattle, Washington. The classic Soundgarden line-up consisted of Chris Cornell (vocals / guitar), Kim Thayil (guitar), Matt Cameron (drums), and Ben Shepherd (bass). Past members included Hiro Yamamoto (bass), Jason Everman (bass), and Scott Sundquist (drums). Currently, Chris Cornell is with the band Audioslave. Matt Cameron is playing drums for Pearl Jam.

On April 09, 1997, Soundgarden broke the news that they were disbanding. This was the press release:

"After 12 years, the members of Soundgarden have amicably and mutually decided to disband to pursue other interests. There is no word at this time on any of the members' future plans. They'd like to thank their fans for all of their support over the years."

Doug Hollis's "Sound Garden" Sculpture in Magnuson Park, Seattle, Washington.

"Situated next to the popular off-leash area of the park, Doug Hollis's Sound Garden consists of 12 silver towers, each holding a vertical organ pipe topped by a wind vane. As the wind blows, each vane turns and pushes its pipe, producing deeply resonant sound.

Listeners can hear anything from a UFO landing to a whale chorus, depending on the weather and their imaginations.

The sculpture's location couldn't be better. It overlooks Lake Washington, where it gets plenty of wind and benefits from the beauty of the scenery. After nearly two decades, however, some of the vanes' ball-bearings that turn the structures have frozen into place."
