The Boston Ladies Art Society strives to elevate and advance the visibility of women artists, to bring the thriving arts scene pioneered and steered by feminine forces up from the underground and to not so gently hurl it into the public eye. This mission shall be accomplished through exhibitions, performances and happ'nins that involve artistic expressions of all stripes: visual arts, dance, music, literature, cinema, fashion, promotion, and various other creative manifestations. The society, which is managed by a revolving council of nine elected divas, will pominently position women's works in traditional exhibition venues, public spaces and fabulous fringe enclaves. BLAS also seeks to foster the development of women in the arts through networking opportunities, workshops in the creative arts and self-promotion, and supporting young upstart artists through mentoring programs. The Society is an exemplary model of the high-impact effect women can have on a city's artistic landscape when they unite and focus. BLAS aims to enhance the city’s cultural climate by exposing the paramount inventiveness and refreshingly hip sensibilities of local artists. It also demonstrates the virtues of learning from others, the ability to realize personal goals through collective endeavors, blah, blah, blah, and how to rule the world!
This is a forum for all the amazing Boston women who fuel the local art scene. Post your shows, exhibits, events, ideas, parties, anything. Performers, musicians, writers, artists, photographers, designers, painters, poets, knitters, sculpters, photographers, dancers, and supporters of all the above mentioned are welcome.
