Group Leader:

Welcome all, to one of the many groups devoted to classic rock. I consider classic rock anything from early 60's to the late 70's, where bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who, The Doors, Cream, and countless others cemented their places in the history of music. Sadly, classic rock today has been overrun by the interminable Emo and Pop-Punk bands, not to mention the rappers that seem to duplicate endlessly. Hopefully, these legendary bands will once again recieve the respect and attention they had in their day. Please feel free to use the forums and lets talk rock!

If you are not currently a fan of classic rock, for whatever reason, I'd like to recommend some of my personal favorite songs, as well as some of the most famous rock riffs in history, to perhaps introduce you to some of the best music out there...

AC/DC - Highway to Hell (Perhaps the song that put AC/DC on the map, but sadly their last with the late Bon Scott...)

Aerosmith - Dream On
(No no, fuck that Eminem rip-off, listen to the real stuff right here!)

The Beatles - Day Tripper, Yesterday (pretty much everything they've ever done)

Black Sabbath - Iron Man (A must have classic rock song)

Boston - More Than a Feeling (Ever wonder where Kurt Cobain got the riff for Smells Like Teen Spirit?)

Cream - Sunshine of Your Love (Believe me, if you don't recognize this song, you aren't as big a music fan as you may think...)

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Up Around the Bend, Travelin' Band (these guys rock!)

Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water (Every youth whose ever picked up a guitar has probably tried this songs famous intro)

Derek and the Dominoes - Layla (This is not an Eric Clapton solo work, he was in this band when this famous rock song was recorded [hes also done a popular live version as a solo work])

The Doors - Light My Fire (If you grew up in the '60s you've heard this. If not, listen to it 'cause it rocks!)

The Eagles - Desperado, Hotel California, Take it Easy (and many, many more)

Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight, Cocaine, Tears in Heaven (some of his more popular songs)

Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (This is a 17 minute jam with a very popular riff, and one of the most famous drum solos ever!)

Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower (Just buy or download one of this rock/blues legends many greatest hits Cds)

John Lennon - Imagine (Beautiful song)

Journey - Lights (When the lights....go down...in the city...)

Kansas - Dust in the Wind (Amazing song)

Led Zeppelin - (need I name the song?...oh hell...) Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Black Dog, Kashmir...

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama

Pink Floyd - Money (also ge their entire Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, and Wish You Were Here albums, for Pink Floyd albums are meant to be heard as a whole...)

Queen - We Are the Champions, Another One Bites the Dust, We Will Rock You... (you know the tunes, but may not know the band)

Van Halen - You Really Got Me (in that one car commercial), Eruption (if you like solos as much as I do)

The Who - Behind Blue Eyes, Baba O'Riley, We Won't Get Fooled Again, Bargain...
