For anyone who hasnt experienced it, Garth Marenghis Darkplace was a television series shown on Channel 4 in 2003,which satirised low budget 80s sci fi horror with hilarious effect. Set in a Romford hospital, it tells the story of a group of doctors who must battle against the evil that surrounds darkplace. This evil includes a giant eye,a strange scottish killer mist, and cosmic broccoli.
The show contained short documentary scenes were the 'actors' in the program were interviewed regarding the making of the show. The program starred Garth Marenghi as 'Rick Dagless MD' a maverick doctor who must battle with the forces of darkness whilst dealing with day to day admin. The shows other main characters were Thornton Reed, played by Dean Learner, who is Dagless's boss. Then there is Dr Lucien Sanchez, played by Todd Rivers. Sanchez is a hot-shot surgeon/ladies man.
Finnaly there is Dr Liz Asher,a lady doctor with phychic powers.

Unfortunately there have been no further episodes of this fabulous spoof shown by Channel 4, so it is all we can do to celebrate its short lived stint as the best thing on television.
