Group Leader:

For fans of the Air America Network and the personalities therein. Basically anything LEFT of the dial! (1190 AM in NYC)

Interesting Facts to Ponder:

The original backer for Air America Radio lied about how much funds were going into starting up the company. He was later replaced and Air America almost crumbled. Luckily the support of millions who tuned in saved the show from complete bankruptcy. Air America is still not making a profit though but that's to be changed in the next few years.

Air America reamed some of the more conservative shows in terms of ratings within the first six months. It seems the constant harping by right wingers about no one wanting to listen to Air America was a lie.

Al Franken had a cameo in the popular movie Trading Places. Did you know he was one of the Gorrilla transport stoner guys. His most famous lines in that movie were, "Hey it's my time to drive the cart." ... all the way to the end of that argument.

Jerry Springer, while marred by his hosting of the Jerry Springer Show that STILL debuts weekdays at 11, is actually a very reasonable, intelligent and interesting guy. He was listed number 33 in a book titled, "100 People Who Are Screwing Up America" ... Ironically there are only three republicans on that list and no one who is currently in power.

Janeane Garofalo is an actress who has appeared in Seinfeld, Big Trouble, Mystery Men, and many other movies. Her father is pro-Bush and cause for many debates in the household and sometimes on the show.

Lizz Winstead, former cohost to Unfiltered with Rachel Maddow, has a Comedy Central Presents special under her resume belt. Least I think it's Lizz Winstead... Chuck D is of the politically hip rap group Public Enemy. He made a music video with Moby with the song Make Love, Fuck War. Pretty groovy.

Al Franken wrote a book entitled, "Lying Liars and the Lies They Tell" ... On the cover it showed many other personalities from over at Fox and Fox Subsidiaries. There was MUCH controversy over the legality of such a move. Defamation of Character Fox filed against Franken was eventually thrown out by the Judge.

Mike Malloy can still be accessed online at www.whiterosesociety.org. His and Rhandi Rhodes show along with several others not of Air America can be easily streamed. Gotta love the dark prince of radio though. Mike Malloy is one of my favorites.

More facts as I find them!
