About The Restarts
These guys are GODS!

Kieran: Bass Vox

Robin: Guitar Vox

Darragh: Drums Vox

The Restarts formed back in 1995, deep in the heart of Hackney, London's notorious East End. Three punks, at loose ends, decided to focus their energies together and create a god awful racket! With Darragh on drums, Kieran on bass and Mik playing guitar they attempted to fill the void that was lurking around the Punk scene in London in the mid 1990's. Alan from Scotland joined on guitar after the departure of Mik in 2002...Alans brilliant guitar work helped to create an exciting new recording "System Error CD" (out on Aug 5th 2003, Active Distro) but due to Alans commitments to the UK SUBS we had to part company. Back on the search again we landed on our feet with Robin from Utrecht as our new axe man!.
The name "Restarts"is stolen from the condescending restart interviews which the Employment Service has since made mandatory in order to be in receipt of benefits. So if you aint working and you want to be able to pay your (extortionate) rent, you've got to submit to these "motivational" courses! We ve all been through our share. It seems to be the same agenda all over the western world, if your not prepared to work some poxy factory job you aint worth the 'privilege' to be able to afford housing! In Germany they call them "NeuStarts"(New start) and they operate similar programes in Canada.

So with minds full of discontent and bellys full of beer they set about gigging in and around the UK and Europe, squat gigs and pub gigs mostly. In 1995 the first demo was recorded " JobClub" 11 songs. It was done at Zen Arcade and engineered by Pete Lyons (Lippy from Anti Sect). He was amazed at how 11 songs could be recorded/mixed with vocals in just two days, at that time in the studio he had some muse-o-types who had spent over two weeks mixing ONE SONG!!! So The Restarts were like a breath of fresh(?) air to his ears. The anthemic Frustration was actually just made up on the spot, in the studio, to fill up the space at the end of the reel...thus capturing the true essence of the Punk Rock spirit.
After several tours over Europe, the US and Canada, and over 7 releases the Restarts have found themselves playing a small part in a large world wide network of DIY Punk Rock, playing mostly benefit concerts for autonomously run squat centres etc, we hopefully will be playing somewhere near you soon!
