I've been asked lately what sparked my interest in bellydance, so I guess I will give a little personal back ground information as to why I started this group. My friend Lydia who is a vocalist of a prominent underground dark rock band in Fresno, California started dancing for a troupe called Tanjora on her time away from working on her music career. They dance at Burning Man every year. So that becoming a big part of her life, I figured I would look in to what she loves so much, and really took an interest in this form of dance myself. This was back in early 2001 I believe. I am happy to see that there is such a strong community of dancers here in Chicago! Thank you for your support in this group!
