OUR MISSION
The Intellectronic Forum was founded in 2004 in Columbus Ohio by a collaboration of DJ's, producers, promoters, venue owners, artists, breakers, and anyone who is interested in preserving the electronic and dance music culture. Although centered in Columbus, Ohio, IF's network of affiliations span globally and is designed to be a compass point for anyone to orient themselves to if they wish to actively preserve the true spirit and unity of the EDM culture.
We have a unified goal to revive and preserve the original aspects of the electronic and dance music movement as well as the culture that emerged as a result.
We believe in revitalizing the essence and power of the underground element that once made the EDM culture a spiritual and subliminal experience for anyone who was a part of it during the years before it was commercialized by the overwhelming interest it generated world wide from those who felt it could be marketed for a fiscal benefit.
We believe in the education of the history behind EDM and how it has influenced much of the entertainment industry, as well as the negative influences on the EDM movement that have destroyed its true nature. We believe in focusing this education on younger generations who have never had the privilage of experiencing the true essence of the EDM movement in its birth, in hopes to restore its integrety. We promote a fullfilling spiritual experience, rather than a hollow chemical alteration from reality that detrimentally destorts the EDM experience into a false interpretation.
We are striving to regain credibility to the culture by organizing events in our name that promote these principles and not only revive the original spirit of the movement, but send a message to anyone who has conceeded to a belief that the culture is lost to commercialism and designer narcotics. Remember, through unification ... it began, and through unification ... it will survive.
We believe that through credibility we will establish a voice for ourselves to take to political influences who have scrutinized the culture based on the detriments to society they associate us with, such as the heavy stigma of drug use and abuse among the most recent generations has had on the EDM culture. With a voice of credibility, we can utilize our constitutional rights as equally treated members of society. This may, in turn, allow us to explain to politically influential groups that we share in thier concerns and help them realize that the negative impact is not just on the common society they try to protect, but on the many more of us involved with the culture who simply appreciate electronic music and its spiritual effect. It is our goal and resposibility to work congruently with our elected officials to find ways to eliminate these impurities without imposing sole discrimination to our culture.
We believe in a non-discriminatory membership and IF is open for anyone interested in participating what we stand for regardless of talent level, affiliation, and geographical locale. We have members who walk all paths and they all have unique contributions to our cause. This is what has created the culture in the first place. This is another example of what started the EDM culture, and what helps it survive. It is also why we will succeed in our beliefs.
We encourage all ideas, announcements, and critisism. We are dedicated in helping anyone who is contributing to the culture, be it an event, production, education, booking, etcetera, and without the ideas and criticisms of others we would not be able to provide the same for those who utilize us as a network for thier own projects. We do not object to anyone posting individual events not associated with IF, and have many resources to help any individual project regardless of affiliation. Our current members include a core network of experienced and educated professionals, including DJ's, sound techs / engineers, lighting techs / engineers, producers, musicians of varying specializations, event planners, venue / event property owners, promoters, production companies, labels, public relations, law advisors, security teams / coordinators, web designers / management, graphic artists, programmers, dancers, venders, street teamers, and so on. With this amount diversity in the core members, we are able to assist other groups with thier projects as needed. We have become an excellent resource for those just starting out in the industry, and as we grow, they do as well. Without the ideas and criticism of others, this would not be possible.
We will promote individual projects regardless of affiliation, although we may be selective on how we promote another project based on variable criteria and the best interest of the forum. The reason being that IF itself is NOT a promotion distribution center, however, there are individual members of IF who may independantly agree to promote events on thier own time, and that will regulate itself just from the networking aspect of the Forum.
Finally, we belive in a solid committment to our beliefs. Although no person or group associated with the Intellectronic Forum is obligated to attend any events we coordinate, any activities we plan, any conferences we hold, or required to dedicate themselves entirely to our system, but we do ask that you practice what you preach. We have a strong belief in what we want to accomplish and failure comes to those who do not believe in what they do or do not attempt to do what they say they want to do. Part of the perpetual breakdown in the EDM culture is people running thier mouths all day about what they want or what they can do ... but when it comes down to the real deal, if all you have is words ... then all you have is the air it took to make them. We will help anyone who asks for it, all we ask from those interested participating in our cause is to believe in us and what we stand for, because in that way you are believeing in who you are and what you stand for. That is when words turn into things that can be seen.
We believe in the music, we believe in the culture, we believe in the dance, we believe it can be taken to new levels of understanding, We believe that money is a tool ... not a reason, we believe curiosity makes creativity, we believe in the power knowledge, we believe education breeds maturity, we believe that actions speak louder than words, we believe in each other, we believe that nobody gets special privilages based on a name, we believe in our history, we believe in good listening habits, we believe in speaking up for ourselves, we believe in maintaining good health, we believe in change, we believe in tradition, we believe in honesty, we believe in making mistakes, we believe in learning balance, we believe that discipline spawns control, we believe that control creates confidence, we believe that confidence creates belief, we believe that belief creates unity, we believe that unity fulfills dreams, and we believe dreams are immortal.
