FIRST AND FOREMOST
Hey fellow Deist! Welcome to our Deist online community. Unfortunately, it isn't as active as it used to be, but people still check back periodically, and people still post. Perhaps we can resuscitate it? We can try.
Anyway, thank you for making the effort to join our community, and I promise you that nothing negative will come out of this. In this community, we helped to expand a lot of thoughts and ideas onto others, we've guided others who were confused or in doubt, we've even 'converted' or 'shed light' on a few lucky individuals :-P
Do not hesitate to post anything. All your thoughts, beliefs, ideas, morals are all welcome. Remeber constructive criticism is one of the best ways to improve upon yourself, so keep an open mind for that. Now here, the constructive criticism we get is a positive one. If you post an idea and someone disproves it, they don't do it in a hostile manner, they'll simply provide their explanation as to why they believe it to be faulty, and they'll try to post their feedback on what could be a better alternative. We've never had a problem with someone coming out and insulting/flaming others for their beliefs, so expect this to be a great learning and teaching experience.
Again, thank you for extending your interest in our group and we hope you have a very enjoyable stay!

This site, although very simple and plain, holds a LOT of information...proves the bible wrong in many aspects, disproves christianity, talks about the our founding forefathers and how they were deists and all about them, how deism is involved with politics, you even get to read Thomas Paine's writing "Age of Reason" which is a very sought after piece of literature.
Well, being a deist...it's a hard thing to describe, really...through my eyes, there are different levels of deism...
The general view of deism is basically God created the universe and everything as it is, and 'abandoned' it. He has no influence on natural disasters, he has no influence on how we act, no influence on anything really.
People have free will...that's what it is to it...god has no influence...if god loved us, he wouldn't make certain people be born deformed for no reason, even if their mother took great care of themselves when they were pregnant...he leaves it to nature to decide...and that's almost proven in a sense...there are no excuses to cover up anything...
In 9/11 many christians died. Those christians most likely went to church, loved and accepted god and just went on a normal day of work to love and care for their family. 6000+ people died. Where was god's love? God is supposed to protect those who seek protection, correct? As deism says, god abandoned it and left us with free will.
However, there are different severities of it...deism is not a religion...it is a set of beliefs basically...you do not need to gather or to worship, or anything, and there are different levels. Read below to find out a bit more...
My thoughts are based around that, but not quite exactly that way.
My belief is that a creator did, in fact, create things as we know them, but he is still there for us...he, in some of these cases, is our subconscience. If you are a Christian, you pray and you believe that you get what you requested, as long as it's not something farfetched and ... well ... unneccessary or just plain stupid. Well, you may get what you want, but it doesn't neccessarily mean it's god giving it to you...you are just concentrating so much on that one thing that in your mind, you are focusing only on that. Your mind is a VERY powerful tool capable of many things...8/10 of your mind works subliminally...therefore, if you pray you are basically using your subconscience so when that thing does happen and does come true, it was most likely your subconscience, but christians say it was god who did that good deed....
No need for formal prayer, no need for warship...it puzzles me to think that a being so supreme would require us to worship him strictly every week...through my eyes you don't have to...just acknowledge him and respect him...
Well as I said, there is only a creator. There is no satan or anything to that matter. Since we are all his creations, no matter what, we will get the same fate...one that I am unsure of.
In my school and local area, there are basically only christians...I created this group to bring up some discussion...I want to strengthen my beliefs, I want to discuss my problems and my thoughts, I want to spread the word of deism...please join...you are fully welcome. Thank you.
Here are a few extras:
If you are the only member of your particular school of Deistic thought, you might be a Deist….
If people think you are attacking God when talking to Christians, but defending God when talking to Atheists, then you might be a Deist.
If you know more about the founding fathers religious views than their political ones, you might be a Deist….
If whenever you write about Reason, you always seem to capitalize it… you might be a Deist….
If, after years of study, thought, and discussion, you still have trouble defining Deism, then you might just be a Deist….
Never accept anything as truth if it does not make sense.
2) Have faith only in your ability to reason, and in certain other people whom you have come to trust through experience.
3) Accept inspiration that you personally experience, but view the inspiration (or revelation) of all others with skepticism.
4) Only believe what you can defend in debate with fellow seekers.
5) Accept the possibility, nay probability, that you may be wrong, and be willing to modify your beliefs when you are.
6) Search for wisdom everywhere, but use that wisdom only to inspire thought in yourself.
7) The most important ideas and thoughts to you are your own.
8) Strive for self-honesty. You cannot reason if you cannot be honest with yourself.
9) Realize that not everyone can walk the same path you do. Learn from where they go and what they do.
10) Remember that you will never achieve perfection of your beliefs, and if you ever think you have, that is the surest sign that you have not.
Dynamic Deism accepts the five most basic principals of “Classical Deism”.
1. God Exists
2. Reason is the primary tool by which we seek to understand God and the Universe.
3. All revelations from God currently being espoused are false, but humanity may still be inspired by itself.
4. There is no such thing as the “supernatural”… just things humanity may not understand as of yet.
5. God should be revered, and thanked, but never petitioned.
