This group seeks to provide a case for Christianity as well as inspiration and edification for Christians. It serves as a place where sincere seekers can ask questions, and where faithful Christians can receive encouragement in their faith. Those who have already made up their mind that Christ is "not" for them and merely wish to debate and argue against Christianity are asked to find another group more suitable for them.
Beliefs
We believe in one eternal Triune God who is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and all loving. The members of the Trinity (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) are both eternally and simultaneously distinct as three persons.
We believe that the Son of God, Jesus Christ, led a sinless life and voluntarily died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins so that we might have a personal relationship with the Father. Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead and will return to earth in glory as absolute Judge and King. Only through belief in Christ are we saved.
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin and encourages us to repent and turn to God. The Holy Spirit gives power to these who claim Christ as their Savior to do the will of God and to be conformed to the image of Christ.
We believe that mankind was created in God's image so that we may have a personal relationship with Him. Because Adam and Eve rebelled against God they suffered a spiritual death and brought the world into a life of sin.
We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired word of God written by men through the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the final and supreme authority on truth. Scripture, through the work of the Holy Spirit, corrects man's idolatrous response to God's revelation.
We believe that baptism is an outward profession of one's faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is neither sufficient nor necessary for salvation.
We believe that salvation begins with a confession of faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior. Our salvation come through faith alone, not works. Good works are the result of the Holy Spirit's influence on our hearts. God will complete our salvation by resurrecting us to live forever with Him.
If you're a skeptic and you join this group, that is wonderful, we are happy to have you. All that I ask is that when you have issue with what is being said that you start another thread on it. This will allow the original thread to remain what it was started for, that is, to help believers. Obviously discussions will be different within a group of people that already believe in God, the Bible, etc, than with someone who does not.
