THE MANIFESTO OF THE MESSIAHS

There is a sort of static that consumes the political minds of the people right now. This static arises from a source of deep concern with the existence of our liberties as a freethinking people. There is a tension, which plagues both the Left and the Right of this nation. It is a static of unease- a fear that is likened to the anticipation of an imminent apocalypse of some sort. In the case of conservatives, this apocalypse is described as a religious Apocalypse, literally meaning: ‘When will the Messiah come to judge the living and the dead?’ For the Left the apocalypse is described as: ‘at what point will the Right finally take our freedoms away?’

The Right is strong because their myths are strong- they have a guidebook, which binds them collectively in support of the cause. They are subservient to a political messiah. We are subservient to the mythical power of art and each one of us is a messiah. We write our own bibles. Now is the time that liberals must follow suit and rid themselves of the static which plagues their spirit. Individuals who exorcise their demons through their work and decide to indulge in an honest, more deeply creative life are the inspiration to others who in turn will shed their own demons.

The student movement against the war in Vietnam successfully forced the United States government to seriously consider taming its children. If the youth could influence the popular culture against a nation, what could the liberals do next? Would they have seats in congress in thirty years time?

If only conservatives could somehow convince the public that they were ALREADY plugged into the counter culture. If only they could convince the youth that they were fighting the system without actually giving them weapons. If only they could get kids to believe that individualism was directly related to purchase power and that materialism was directly related to human worth. The internet and MTV are the answers.

Now anyone with an internet connection can sit for hours and type: ‘FUCK THE SYSTEM’ in the morning, go to school or work in the afternoon and feel somehow accomplished in their convictions when they sleep at night. Meanwhile, General Motors has trademarked the term "An American Revolution" in reference to its line of Chevrolet Vehicles. At the same time, a company called E-Trade has trademarked the former revolutionary term "Power to the People" a former cry for civil rights, which literally will now never again belong to the people.

Why be active politically as an individual when individualism is already sold to you on a massive scale? Corporations such as Hot Topic are providing the latest in countercultural gear as classical symbols of rebellion today are available at any Wal-Mart or Target near you.

When we refuse to be satiated by consumerism, determined political action is the only surviving resource we have. Our leaders, because of their corruption, have forced us into this arena of social action! We will no longer be shoveled like blocks of shares onto the collection plate of a conservative empire.

A major principle of any State should be to protect, promote and seek to advance the culture of the arts- the very force of which contains the power to destroy all negative forces across the earth. We know that true artists are a minority and that our ranks continue to shrink in both U.S. and international arenas. This must be reversed.

Our generation will either celebrate the rebirth of artistic freedom or languish in the existence of unmet passions and unliberated ignorance. In a world where personal taste and individuality are a politically incorrect handicap, our greatest weapons against the opposition are our very souls.

The Messiahs extend their hand to fellow artists in search of the solutions for a better, more affirmative and liberated life in the United States.

Our mission is to impart the knowledge that if our liberties continue to be placated by the conservatives of our state, then the sole responsibility for the tragedy of our society must be on the heads of our national leaders. Furthermore, we will strive to the extent of our life’s blood to purge the demons from the souls of millions of sleeping artists whose passions, if not already extinguished, will soon starve to death, die in battle, or will be bought and sold to a society of the living dead, having never known the true culprits, the fundamentalist vampire cowboy scum who would stop at nothing to dig up all of our graves and drain us for all eternity.

We are alive!
We are artists!
We are individuals!
We will not compromise!

We, the Messiahs, call upon all artistic soldiers to lace up their boot strings against those who wish to destroy our legacy. We call upon all young people who have a voice to join us in defending the rights of our generation before our legacy is crushed forever by conservative values!

In an anti-culture of mass consumerism, we seek expression without shame!

We call upon all those who champion creativity to march with us against an ever-broadening wave of liberal neutrality- the process of which cannibalizes its own people.

Let us attack conservatism on every front and speak with words only articulated by the ferocity of our courage during battle!

Together we will perform an exorcism the likes of which will astonish the world!
