Kennedy High School's History

John F. Kennedy High School opened in 1964. It was named for John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States who was assassinated on November 22nd 1963. John F. Kennedy was the youngest man elected president, as well as the youngest to die. His Inaugural Address offered the memorable injunction: "Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country."

John F. Kennedy High School originally housed grades seven through ten. However, by 1966 a typical ninth through twelfth year high school was established. John F. Kennedy High School went through an extensive renovation of the school facilities which was completed in 1999. At present, students are attending one of the newest and most innovative facilities in Montgomery County
