Mourning Yesterday’s collaboration is young as a group’s perspective but is as old as the dedication and motivation each individual brings to the stage. Their background ranges from musical influences such as Godsmack, Dream Theatre, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, and Greenday to name a few.
The band was developed in February 2004 in Orlando, Florida with the original three members, Clay, Kham, and Mike. At this point they were without a lead singer and finding one became a tedious and relentless task. They were in search for a vocalist that had the same vision and desire to not only perform in the studio but to bring life to the stage.
In their pursuit, they tried many options, including listing their message on a website. That was when Patrick, a small town guy, saw the ad while searching for himself a band to match his needs. This began the birth of Mourning Yesterday. After the first rehearsal, a lead vocalist was found. It was in March of that same year that Patrick had to take a step back from his musical career due to situational circumstances that forced him to leave. This leave however, would be temporary as Mourning Yesterday also began a revamp for a new singer and drummer. This change brought to Mourning Yesterday a new drummer by the name of Cory. Still absent a singer, their searched continued. During this time frame, Patrick was also writing some of his own music and dealing with issues at home. Two and a half months later, in late May, an email was sent to Patrick from Kevin explaining their issues and inquiring about a possible reunion. This was a heaven sent email as it came at a time when Patrick had to let go of some persons that were important to him and continue his drive for the stage.
In late May, Mourning Yesterday reunited back with Patrick and their new drummer and set the stage for future success. With a fresh start, new material, and a new and aged outlook on their path, Mourning Yesterday began a hard but determined journey into the musical arena. Although they have only been together for a year, their hard-edged sound, original look, and professional chemistry has brought them full circle.
They have performed throughout Orlando and Daytona Beach creating a flattering and intense following and buzz.
