for the survivalist and study of survivalism, especially those preparing for survival on a long-term basis...
RACISTS AND MILITANTS ARE NOT WELCOME... a discussion place for survival skills and tactics during a possible time of political instability and persecution...
THE THREADS SHOULD RELATE AROUND SURVIVAL TOPICS. IF I NOTICE THE BOARD BECOMING TOO POLITICAL AND OFF TOPIC I WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THOSE THREADS... PLEASE HOWEVER, FEEL FREE TO POST POLITICAL OR ANYTHING ELSE UNDER THE BULLETIN SECTION..
please be considerate of the many different religious views of group members. This group is not supposed to be "christian" although there are many christians in the group although christians happen to be a majority of those who joined . The intention is for the group to involve people of many backgrounds, not one. I believe in freedom of religion not freedom from religion. I encourage u to be open with your beliefs whatever they are, so long as it is respectful and secondary in subject matter to the topic of survivalism.

BOOKS... * rating from amazon.com
"THE LAST ALGONQUIN" by Theodore Kazimiroff ***** true story, lone algonquin indian born in the 1850's living in the wilderness outside new york city until 1929
"ISHI IN TWO WORLDS" by Karl Kroeber ****1/2 true story, native found living in california wilderness in 1911, not a novel, more scientific, not as good as "the last algonquin" in my opinion but still good
TOM BROWN JR.= There is controversy about him, some of his stories seem to be questionable, but there is no debating his survival skills. Claims to have been taught from his best friend's apache grandfather between 7 and 17, later he studied under master apache scouts. One of if not the most sought after trackers and survivalists. A little bit of a New Ager so beware of that
his best books are as follows...
"TOM BROWN'S FIELD GUIDE TO WILDERNESS SURVIVAL **** but I give it 5, while basic topics are covered, they are much more in depth than other books, other boos leave out vital tid bits, good illustrations, number 1 on the Tom Brown list
"TOM BROWN'S FIELD GUIDE TO NATURE OBSERVATION AND TRACKING" ****1/2... just good get it
"THE SCIENCE AND ART OF TRACKING" **** great 3 chapter intro, then becomes a manual, again, covers more than most, lean how to tell speed of animal, where next track will fall and even if the animal has so much as moved its head or lost its balance
"TOM BROWN'S FILED GUIDE TO CITY AND SUBURBAN SURVIVAL" ****1/2... some good info, buried in some more common sense material, i wouldn't start with this Tom Brown book but has some good info for your collection
"BOTANY AND HEALING, MEDICINAL PLANTS OF NEW JERSEY AND THE REGION" by Cecil Still**** don't let the Jersey part take way from your interest in this book. It should be 5 stars in my opinion. It covers almost 500 wild plant species in the state and the mid-atlantic region; many of them are no doubt spread throughout the nation as well. It is not a field guide. It is a little hard to identify plants and trees from this book, unless u are already familar with them, but it tells u how to prepare natural cures from all of them and what they can be used for. With a field guide of local plants and trees from your area this is almost indispensable! If you are still skeptical about this book ok, but please find a suitable replacement for your collection.
***Those major chain bookstores... often have field guide brochures in the nature section... some on medicinal plants, edible plants, animal tracts... they are usually fairly general and a great place to get started... look for them, they are somewhat inexpensive, easy for identification and fairly compact
OTHER HELPFUL BOOKS...
"Never Be Sick Again" -by Raymond Francis and Kester Cotton **** Great book on how to keep healthy
"Eat to Live" -by Joel Fuhrman***** In my opinion the best book out there for diet
"THE MAKER'S DIET"-By Jordan Rubin **** Not the best diet book to start with, but for those who have done their homework this book seems to put all the pieces of the puzzle together, superior to Kevin Trudeau's book. For those who believe in an organic lifestyle and natural healing it is great, if religous overtones make you squeemish it might be to hard to handle, but that is certainly not the focus of the book so I wouldn't let the title scare you away.
BOOKS ON YOUR LOCAL NATIVE AMERICANS, please don't ignore this rich valuable resource. These people lived her for thousands of years and have a lot to offer. I Study the Lenape/Delaware Algonquin peoples and have several books to recommend on them specifically
LOCAL MEDICINAL AND EDIBLE PLANTS don't be foolish and ignore this topic, every region is different, and these resources are plentiful
PLEASE ALSO INVEST IN ANTI- RADIATION PILLS, THEY ARE CHEAP.... Potassium Iodate has no bitter taste, is cheaper, and has a longer shelf life than, than Potassium Iodide... a nuke attack in this day and age is very possible
