Whether or not you believe that December 21, 2012 is going to be the end of civilization as we know it or Pleidians from Outer Space are gonna come down and lead us to enlightenment or Nuclear War is going to start, it's pretty tough to look at the world and say "I feel confident that everything's gonna be a-okay!"
The most common idea with those who believe in 2012 is that there will be a "mass shift of consciousness"...
What exactly is a "mass shift of consciousness?"
Some say were's gonna evolve, some say we're gonna have a radical change in our physical time-space continum. Most likely though, if you DON'T believe in 2012 as anything, then you would guess that life is going to become less and less stable. Already we're looking at war with Iran, and most speculations say that the U.S. is no longer the almighty juggernaut of the world. China's economic and military capacity will quickly catch up to the stagnated U.S. in due time.
Morals and innocence are becoming rarer and rarer, while sources of cheap and instant gratification abound everywhere. 1/3 of all U.S. children don't have a daddy to help make sure they grow up right. And to make things worse, we have materialism and hedonism as the most common "modern" form of thought.
Mental illness rates are skyrocketing even higher than they skyrocketed 20 years ago.
And don't forget about the scarcity of food, oil, and clean water.
When you take all the metaphysical mystical stuff out of the 2012 idea, you are still left with a lot of possibilities for the world becoming a vastly "different" place by then....
We're all in this together to try to make the world a better place. Discussions of any topic, religious, political, philosophical, historical, scientific, cultural, news, etc. are welcome, as long as they relate to the idea of the topic, which is: 2012: Apocalypse Soon?
