MISSION STATEMENT: NEON is a movement dedicated to promoting quality events, in innovative settings. Neon began as a concept & quickly became a collective in late 1998 when friends Tiga, Justin, John & Mark teamed up to create the perfect club night that could house the groups eclectic & ever growing musical & visual tastes. Music was evolving, but the existing clubs were getting boring & formulaic, the new club night the four were designing was to stay true to its mission of quality & originality. The Idea was to do away with the traditional night club look & feel & start from scratch, doing away with lasers & smoke machines & introducing interior & graphic design, mood & lighting that would match the new sounds that were developing. Everything had to change, the layout of the venue physically & visually to accommodate the new musical sound NEON was introducing. Since it’s creation, NEON has been through many incarnations, & almost as many venue changes until settling down at the now defunct Jai Bar in 1999 for a 1 year stretch until the club shut it’s doors in early 2000. Homeless & hungry, NEON took a break (while Tiga toured the world) & looked for the perfect venue to accommodate their growing following and satisfy the need for a new, raw space with quality sound & atmosphere that wasn't an existing night club. In late 2001 NEON moved into the SAT, (The Society for Art & Technology) a digital art research facility and art gallery, the SAT space provided NEON with the solution it needed, a bigger space that could more people comfortably & that could also be completely transformed physically every time to suit the needs of each individual event.
In 2005 NEON produced over 40 successful events there hosting the likes of Miss Kitten & The Hacker, Crossover, Chromeo, FPU, Zyntherius, Martini Bros, Black Strobe, Richie Hawtin, FPU, Dj Unknown, Morgan Geist, Tiga, Jordan Dare, Mini, A touch of Class USA, Jesper Dahlback, DJ Hell, Steve Bug, Highfish, Tommie Sunshine, ADNY & have drawn over capacity crowds to all of it’s events.
NEON has out lasted the usual life expectancy of any club night, it has been 6 years now & the events have not let up at all.
