01/05/1971 - 09/24/2005
HELLO TO ALL LOVED ONES OF SGT DUNLAP,
FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND CO-WORKERS BOTH FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND FELLOW UNITED STATE MARINE CORPS BROTHERS AND SISTERS. MTT TEAM ..6 ALTHOUGH ONLY TOGETHER NOW FOR 5 MONTHS, WE HAVE GROWN CLOSER TO ONE ANOTHER. CONSOLE ONE ANOTHER IN TIME OF NEED AND WORKING ALONG SIDE ONE ANOTHER DURING OPERATIONS. OUR TEAM CAME TOGETHER ON THE 14TH OF MAY. FROM THIS FORWARD WE HAVE WORK DAY IN DAY OUT ALONGSIDE ONE ANOTHER. COMING FROM DIFFERENET STATES, UNITS AND CULTURES TO MAKE UP THIS ELITE TEAM IN QUANTICO, VIRGINIA TO IRAQ. THROUGHOUT OUR TRAINING TO OUR CURRENT OPERATIONS IN COUNTRY SGT DUNLAP WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR EVERYONE. HE WAS AN OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL WHO HAD A BIG HEART AND TREATED EVERYONE WITH LOVE AND RESPECT. WE GAVE SGT DUNLAP A NICKNAME"RATCHET JAW" THE GUY SURE DID LOVE TO TALK, IN FACT IF HE WAS QUIET WE KNEW SOMETHING WAS WROMG WITH HIM. THAT WASN'T TO OFTEN THOUGH, WE SURE DO MISS HIM AND HIS MANY CONVERSATIONS, NOW ITS JUST TO QUIET THAT ITS SCARY.
SGT DUNLAP’S LEADERSHIP HAS MADE AN INCREDIBLE IMPACT ON US HIS FELLOW TEAM MEMBERS. EVERYONE ON THIS TEAM HAS LEARNED FROM HIM, ALTHOUGH HE WAS A SERGEANT IN THE MARINES AND THE LOWEST RANKING INDIVIDUAL ALONG WITH 3 OTHER SERGEANTS ON THIS TEAM, HE ACCUMULATED SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE IN HIS 34 YEARS THAT WERE OFTEN INTRIGUED AND AMAZED WITH WHAT HE SHARED. SGT BRIAN ENRIQUE DUNLAP WAS A DEDICATED, INTELLIGENT, AND SHARP MARINE. HE ACCOMPLISHED MISSIONS HE DIDN'T INTIALLY AGREED TO, BUT BEING THE MOTIVATING INDIVIDUAL THAT HE WAS HE DID IT ANYWAY. ON SEPT 24, 2005 SGT BRIAN ENRIQUE DUNLAP MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE NOT ONLY FOR AMERICA AND OUR FREEDOMS BUT ALSO FOR IRAQ AND THEIR FREEDOMS. SGT DUNLAP IS A HERO IN ALL OF OUR EYES.TODAY WE ASK YOU NOT TO MOURN THE LIFE OF SGT BRIAN DUNLAP BUT TO CELEBRATE HIS LIFE AS HE WOULD WANT YOU TO.
TO SGT BRAIN ENRIQUE DUNLAP, OUR HERO, OUR GUARDIAN ANGEL, OUR TEAMMATE, WE LOVE YOU AND WILL NEVER FORGET YOU.
YOUR FELLOW BROTHER'S IN BOTH CHRIST THE LORD, AND UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS.
GOD BLESS

Marine Forces Reserves 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division Los Alamitos, California-----------------------------------------------------Thursday, September 15, 2005-------------------Im still alive -----------------------------------------------------------Well folks sorry i havent blogged recently. Been a little busy. Almost got wacked again this morning. that makes 5 times in the last 2 weeks. I lost 1 of my iraqis today from an IED. I tried everything i could but he couldnt hang on. This area is the worst place in iraq. To tell you about a typical day , it starts off by mortar rnds earliy in the mornig then i run about 3 to 4 missions a day. Usually with and IED or mortar and small arms fire of some sort. then we have our nightly mortar barrage followed by more missions. Ive lost about 11 guys in my Company to injuries, the other companies even more. This place is the wild west. But im doing allright. I write more when i have time theres also alot of things I cant discuss. PLease keep praying for me so that I can make it home in one piece.
If you havent seen our team web page please take a look-----Love Brian-----------------Hey , God its good to hear from you. Love the new page, a more personal side of you. Im glad you are staying sober. Cute kids by the way I can see why you smile when you talk about them. Ill be home in 6 more months . Ill try to stay alive but its a little difficult around here. As of yesterday this is the heaviest IED area in iraq. Plus all the mouj are coming here because of ops in AL Tafar. But dont worry i still trust in God and work the steps. love BrianPosted by Brian on Friday, September 16, 2005 at 5:16 AM---------R.I.P. The bravery of our fellow US Marines

During hostile action in Iraq, a Marine is hit and wounded and this brave Marine comes to his aid while taking hostile fire.

A second Marine comes to the rescue and is struck by an enemy round.

In the attempt to evacuate the wounded Marine, the Marine to the left is fatally struck again by enemy fire and falls to the ground.

This sad photo shows two of our brave brothers lying motionless on the ground. The Marine on the right will survive, but sadly the Marine on the left who came to rescue his fellow Marine would not survive.
These are the images you will not see on CNN, but as hard as they may be to look at, it is important to see them as Marines to honor them, and to be filled with a sense of honor and respect for those brave men who have fallen and for those who would unselfishly risk their own lives for their fellow Marines. Please say a prayer for all of our troops, and pass this on so that others may see the honor and bravery of our brothers in action.

Welcome to the new layout of Iraq War Videos. This website was made for one purpose. To provide an unbias public education service for the war in Iraq.
Despite any of our political beliefs, we have one agenda.. to inform the public of what life is like from a combat perspective in Iraq for the Iraqi people and for the Coalition troops currently serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. We will leave it up to the mainstream media to report on what life is like from a civilian standpoint, since that's the stance many of the media outlets have chosen to pursue.

Today I added another name to my list of Iraq War Heroes, his name is Dustin
Hartley, Army Specialist from Fairmont Indiana, 23 years young.
It wasn't the war in Iraq that got him killed, ohhh no...
he finished his current duty in Iraq proudly only to return home and be killed by a damn drunk
driver
Dustin was killed in April and wasn't on my list because he was not on a
standard DoD release. It's my sending out emails all day on Christmas that
caught the attention of his father who contacted me.
If you would like to send your condolences to his father Steve, you'll find
the address on Dustin's tribute page.

Dustin's Tree, which is a memorial tree to honor all those who have fallen in this war. we will do this every year, if you know anyone who would like to add an ornament in memory of their loved one please share my e- mail address with them, the tree is 50 ft tall and has over 5000 lights and many ornaments sent from families of our fallen, I would be more than happy to add any that are sent.

I wanted to send a Picture of Jermy. He was a 21 year old Soldier who was killed in the line of duty. He put med school on hold to serve his country. And for our freedom and our safety he has paid the ultimate price.
"I am an American , fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense."
-Code of Conduct
These are the first words of the Code Conduct that he lived by. These ideals are the reason he sacrifices his life. He is not forgotten and is severly missed.

I appreciate everything you're doing. From 5 years with The Old Guard conducting funerals at Arlington National Cemetary to a year in Iraq, the life of the Infantryman is extremely diverse. We never ask to be fully understood, just supported and accepted. You've done that. Thank you.
