Montreal Zine Collaborative.
Since September 20th 2005
Artists join forces to self-publish a unique zine on an irregular basis.
A zine—a contraction of the word magazine—is most commonly a small circulation, non-commercial publication of original or appropriated texts and images. Zines are often distributed through secondary circuits, such as: trade, zine symposia, record stores, concerts, independent media outlets, mailings, or zine "distros." Many zines are distributed for free or cost less than $1.00 and rarely more than $3.00-5.00.
Anyone can join?
Although the zine will be based in Montreal, this support for artists is open to all who want to create something they feel is worth sharing with the world.
How does it work?
Unless the collaboration grows to a point where more than one editor is needed, all work will be submitted to one person,
by post or email, who will pull all parts together and upload a master file to the web. It will be available to download freely so that anyone can print and copy the zine in a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch chapbook format.
Contributors Guide
DO NOT SEND:
Unoriginal work. If you did not create it, you will not submit it.
Hate. Sex and violence in any work should be artistically justified; no excessive gore.
Any work more than 8 pages long. (see page format above)
Publicity. No ads.
PLEASE SEND:
