Group Leader:

Welcome to the Artists' Critique! I am hoping this place will become something that MySpace sorely lacks; a serious, mature place to share your artwork, receive quality criticism, and to connect with other artists who have a purpose in their artwork.

This group IS NOT for casual "look-what-I-drew-in-Algebra" artists. There are plenty of groups on MySpace for that sort of thing.

DO NOT join this group if:
You do not take criticism well. There is a distinction between flaming and giving contructive criticism, and I will use my powers as moderator to enforce that line, but often true, honest, and constructive criticism can come across as harsh, cold, and malignant. If you are going to defend your work to your critics until the very end, rather than considering their suggestions and thanking them for their consideration, then you do not belong here.

DO NOT join this group if:
You have a tendency to belittle and flame those who you feel are "inferior" to you. Most likely, you feel inadequate in your own abilities and thus need to put others down below yourself in order to have confidence in yourself. This is not a place for flaming. We are here to help each other and work together to improve our skills and our artwork.

DO NOT join this group if:
You have nothing more to contribute than "oh, I like it!" or "that's really good." Simple, empty comments, even if they are praise, do nothing to help the artist. If you have nothing to criticize, tell the artist WHY you like it. What did he/she do in their piece that really made it come to life for you? Let them know what it is they do that REALLY works! Then they will hold onto that and continue to use it in other pieces.

DO join this group if:
You are a painter, drawer, writer, singer, musician, poet, graphic artist, potter, sculptor, metal smith, performance artist, director, animator, or any other kind of artist who wants to connect with other artists, share ideas, improve their work, and help other improve theirs. All skill levels from beginner to master are welcome! The only requirement is that you take your art seriously, respect others, and have a true PASSION for what you do!
