INTRODUCTION:
A short profession of faith: We believe that the Holy Spirit has come with power and might and spiritual gifts to bring a renewal in spirit to the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. We look for the greater gifts of the Holy Spirit for the renewal of minds, hearts, and souls in being made alive with, in and through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We give praise to God our Heavenly Father for the grace He has bestowed on us through the power of the Holy Spirit and through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
This group is devoted to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal that is ocurring in the worldwide Catholic Church at the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This group is devoted to understanding the "charisms" of the Spirit and how they work to build up the Body of Christ, the Church. The Charismatic Renewal is about a renewal in spirit, a revival of the Spirit in the lives of believers far and wide, for the glory of God in His Church. This spiritual renewal is meant to bring people into new life, into being "Born of the Spirit" as Jesus mentions in John 3:5. The Charismatic Renewal is about being "born of the Spirit" and entering into a new kind of heavenly life while on earth, a life that is truly lived of the Spirit, in the Spirit, with the Spirit, and through the Spirit.
ISSUES/KEY WORDS: Holy Spirit, Pentecost, charisms, charismatic renewal, baptism in the Spirit, praying in tongues, interpretation of tongues, discernment of spirits, prophecy, healing, miracles, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, faith, mighty deeds, slain (resting) in the Spirit, love, hope, prayer, spiritual exercises, born of the Spirit.

ENCOUNTER THE HOLY SPIRIT IN SACRED SCRIPTURE:
YOU MUST BE "BORN FROM ABOVE"
"Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. He came to Jesus at night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one can do these signs that you are doing unless God is with him." Jesus answered and said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the Kingdom of God without being born from above." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a person once grown old be born again? Surely he cannot re-enter his mother’s womb and be born again, can he?"
Jesus answered, "Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of flesh is flesh. What is born of Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, ’you must be born from above.’ The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.’ "
~~ GOSPEL of JOHN 3:1-8 ~~
THE ADVOCATE, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
"If you love Me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of Truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. In a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me, because I live and you will live. On that day, you will realize that I am in My Father and you are in Me and I am in you. Whoever has My commandments and observes them is the one who loves Me. And whoever loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and reveal Myself to him.’ Judas, not the Iscariot, said to Him ’Master, then what happened that You will reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?’
Jesus answered and said to him, ’Whoever loves Me will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make our dwelling with him. Whoever does not love Me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but of the Father who sent Me. I have told you this while I am with you. The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, that the Father will send in My name- He will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. You heard Me tell you, ’I am going away and I will come back to you,’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe. I will no longer speak much with you, for the ruler of the world is coming. He has no power over Me, but the world must know that I love the Father and that I do just as the Father has commanded Me. Rise, let us be on our way."
~~ GOSPEL of JOHN 15:15-31 ~~
JESUS’ DEPARTURE; THE COMING OF THE ADVOCATE
"But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you. And when He comes, He will convict the world regarding sin and righteousness and condemnation; sin, because they do not believe in Me; righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me; condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.
I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when He comes, the Spirit of Truth, He will guide you to all truth. He will not speak of His own, but He will speak what He hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify Me, because He will take from what is Mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is Mine; for this reason I told you that He will take from what is mine and declare it to you."
~~ GOSPEL of JOHN 16:7-15 ~~
THE COMMISSIONING OF THE DISCIPLES
"The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw Him, they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them, ’All power in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And, behold, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age."
~~ GOSPEL of MATTHEW 28:16-20 ~~
JESUS’ ASCENSION; THE SPIRIT: "THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER"
"He presented Himself alive to them by many proofs after He had suffered, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. While meeting with them, He enjoined them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for ’the Promise of the Father about which you have heard Me speak; for John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
When they had gathered together, they asked Him, ’Lord, are You at this time going to restore the Kingdom to Israel?’ He answered them, "It is not for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has established by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to all the ends of the earth.’ When He had said this, as they were looking on, He was lifted up and a could took Him from their sight. While they were looking intently at the sky as He was going, suddenly two men dressed in white garments stood beside them. They said, "Men of Galilee, why are standing there looking at the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will return in the same way as you have seen Him going into heaven."
~~ ACTS of the APOSTLES 1:3-11 ~~
THE DESCENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
"When the time for the Day of Pentecost had come, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim."
~~ ACTS of the APOSTLES 2:1-4 ~~
SPIRITUAL GIFTS: UNITY AND VARIETY
"Now, in regard to spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be unaware. You know how when you were pagans you were constantly attracted and led away by mute idols. Therefore, I tell you that nobody speaking by the Spirit of God says "Jesus be accursed." And no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.
To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another the expression of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit; to another mighty deeds; to another prophecy; to another discernment of spirits; to another varieties of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as He wishes."

A PRAYER FOR LIGHT (by Cardinal Manning)
O Holy Spirit of God, make me as Thy disciple; guide me, illuminate me, sanctify me. Bind my hands, that they may do no evil; cover my eyes that they may see it no more; sanctify my heart, that evil may not dwell within me. Be Thou my God; be Thou my guide. Wherever Thou shall lead me, I shall go; Whatsoever Thou forbid of me, I shall renounce; and whatsoever Thou command of me, in Thy strength I shall do. Lead me, then, unto the fullness of Thy truth. AMEN.
PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Come, Holy Spirit, and fill my heart with Your holy gifts. Let my weakness be penetrated with your strength this very day that I may fulfill all the duties of my state conscientiously, that I may do what is right and just. Let my charity be such as to offend no one, and hurt no one’s feelings; so generous as to pardon sincerely any wrongs done to me. Assist me, O Holy Spirit, in all my trials of life, enlighten me in my ignorance, advise me in my doubts, strengthen me in my weakness, help me in all my needs, protect me in temptations, and console me in afflictions. Graciously hear me, O Holy Spirit, and pour Your light into my heart, my soul, and my mind. Assist me to live a holy life and to grow in goodness and grace. AMEN
ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
O Holy Spirit, Divine Spirit of light and love, I consecrate to Thee my understanding, Heart and will, my whole being for time and eternity. May my understanding be always submissive to Thy heavenly inspirations, and to the teaching of the Catholic Church, of which Thou are the infallible guide; may my heart be ever inflamed with love of God and of my neighbor, may my will be ever conformed to the divine will, and may my whole life be a faithful imitation of the life and virtues of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to whom with the Father and Thee be honour and glory forever. AMEN

Jesus, love, Jesus, love. AMEN.

Most Holy Spirit, Beloved of my soul, I adore You.
Enlighten me, guide me, comfort me, console me.
