People vs. Corporations

"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations which dare already to challenge our government in a trial of strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country."- Thomas Jefferson

ThomasJefferson's worst fears have indeed come true... Well, which are you? A person or a corporation? If you are a corporation--congratulations! You are the most privileged citizen of this "democracy." If you are a person, you have been turned into a second-class citizen. It is your duty to challenge your government in a trial of strength in order to restore the laws of our country. Something's got to give...

Guidelines for Discussion:

-This group is for discussing corporate power vs. people power. If you don't agree with the basic premise and wish to argue that--that's great and fine and good. Alternative viewpoints are welcomed. But if you want to turn it around so that every argument boils down to left vs. right, I kindly ask you to take it to one of the other groups in myspace dedicated to that type of discussion.

- As moderator, I will not stand for personal or ad hominem attacks. I will not stand for meaningless name calling. I will not delete or censor your posts, but I do reserve the right to ban you from the group if you are continually disruptive.

- Spammers will be deleted on sight. Sorry, we don't want to look at your web cam or your cleavage. We don't want your free iPod or Cialis. byebye!

And I's rant:

We in America have a problem... The government is not really by and for the people, as it was intended to be. We are so deeply stuck in the system of control and mind-manipulation that it's very difficult to see through the quagmire. People are being pitted against people--but the real fight we have as people is with corporate power having taken over our government.

If you're left-leaning--the problem is not the right or the Republicans. If you're right-leaning--the problem is not the left or the Democrats. The problem is the two party system. Corporate politics. Exponential growth. The overarching sense of entitlement that has been programmed into Americans... Don't blame the Bush regime. Don't blame Clinton. Yes they are all crooked in some way and they are all to some extent war-profiteers. But we are where we are because the American people have supported the "republicratic" corporately run government for generations upon generations. We remain complacent consumers while our democracy is being overrun by corporate people, thanks to a tiny clause buried in the 14th amendment that gives corporations de facto personhood.

There is definitely something to fight for: but this should no longer be a battle between the left and right. It should be a battle between the interests of people and the interests of corporations--and we WAY outnumber them. The left vs. right debate is a tool used to drive a wedge between us and keep the people fighting amongst themselves rather than fighting against the corporate institutions that keep us economically enslaved to the system. The people must stand united if we ever want an end to war, poverty, injustice, etc., and if we ever want our government to truly represent our needs.

This group is still new, but I do hope it can grow and help to end the age of people fighting against people and usher in the new age of people fighting along side other people against the corporate powers that have usurped our government. This problem is not a uniquely American one either. Globalization has expanded corporate power from sea to shining sea. Corporations are the only people who can have citizenship in any and every nation... I must attribute the term "People vs. Corporations" and most of the thinking behind my message to Peter Savich. He's not a friend of mine and hasn't solicited (and doesn't entirely resent) my attention to his writing or his message.

Quotes:

"Rap is business music, Hip-Hop is cultural music." - Busta Rhymes

"Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money-power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed." - Unknown, Often attributed to Abraham Lincoln

"Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes it's laws" - Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild

"Corporation, n. An ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility." - Ambrose Bierce (1842 - 1914), The Devil's Dictionary

"Corporations are simply irresponsible anaerobic organisms that feed on money. Crime, lying, cheating, stealing, and killing are concepts that have no meaning for such organisms." - Peter Savich
