Zoots Coffee D.R.C. closed its doors on October 2nd, 1997. It was the first and only place of its kind in the Cass Corridor. More like an experiment than a business, it provided a place for indie rockers, artists, the homeless, hustlers, hipsters, techno freaks, malcontents, socialists, future rock stars, poets, junkies, and societal refugees to mingle. Lots of good and bad times were had there, strong friendships were forged and destroyed there, there were some saints and an abundance of sinners, and a lot of great bands played there too. The coffee kinda sucked but the atmosphere made up for that. If you were there, you were there, and there has been and will be nothing else like it, for good or bad. Feel free to add photos, share stories, spread lies and gossip, be outrageous, have a raspberry lemonade, just like old times.
