Psylab is a team of four producers who create their own brand of off-the-cuff BPM music thus proving that it can indeed be done by humans with instruments.
The members of Psylab have been playing together for five years, and have made recent breakthroughs into the chemistry behind the creation of live Electronic Dance Music. Their styles range from deep house to acid trance to drum'n'bass; each genre with its own formula to maintain integrity.
Instrumentally, the members of Psylab cover bass, electronic drums, synths, samples and visuals. Given the versatility of the instruments they use, it can often be difficult to figure out who is playing what.
Psylab plays sets based on two important factors: their own intuition; and outside forces - including crowd noises, audience participation, (happy) accidents, and anything unforeseen.
In live settings, Psylab will typically team up with skilled DJs who will mix the band into their DJ sets as though Psylab were a recording.
Psylab has been performing at various events in the Northeast region and will soon be planning a U.S. and Canadian tour. They have been known to work with such local collectives as Sonic Beating/Changmian, Redtail Collective, Circle / Gnomefatty and others.
