Noun 1. preterist - a theologian who believes that the Scripture prophecies of the Apocalypse (as in the Book of Revelations) have already been fulfilled.

Preterism is an old belief system that was held, in its prime, during the early years of the Christian church. However, due to little knowledge of the history of the Middle East during that time, the idea that prophecy of the Bible was fulfilled by 70 A.D. grew less and less popular, mostly because of the inability for news to spread very far. Preterism is slowly growing in popularity, and as a valid doctrine, it is not only absurd to call preterism "heresy" due to it being a doctrine, but it's also absurd to declare that the futurist view of Biblical prophecy is "orthodox".

This group is for preterists, by preterists, made for discussions on preterism between both preterists and futurists. Please keep all discussions civil, otherwise your discussion -will- have moderation intervention. This is, also, not a place to discuss atheism/evolutionism vs Creationism. Any discussions on that subject will be moderated as well.
