Founded by Florida International University students in 1993 the Free Cuba Foundation is a non-profit, and non-partisan movement whose purpose is to work towards the establishment of an independent and democratic Cuba using non-violent means. This myspace site serves four purposes:

1. Provide information on the situation inside of Cuba and the international community's relationship with the island.

2. Provide a platform for human rights and democracy activists to dialogue.

3. Provide a means for the internet community to engage in campaigns to improve human rights standards with a special focus on obtaining the release of political prisoners or improve their conditions inside Cuba's prisons.

4. As victims of totalitarianism we share a bond with other captive peoples past and present who are our brothers and sisters in this struggle for freedom. Collaborating with them in areas of common concern is one of our priorities.

Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet

"To love one's neighbor is also to love one's enemy. Although in reality that qualifier-'enemy' does not exist in my vocabulary. I recognize that I only have adversaries and I have acquired the capacity to love them because in this way we do away with violence, wrath, vengeance, hatred and substitute them with justice and forgiveness."

- Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet, 1999

We seek to follow the path blazed by Cuba's internal democratic
opposition in embracing the principles of strategic non-violence, and being inspired by Jose Marti, Mahatma Gandhi, and the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
