Art-Poker is one tool that allows games to be played with Art (any medium)

Art-Poker can be thought of as a type of Art Contest that utilizes the competitveness and uncertainty of poker, in which artists interact with each other, and their judges directly.


There are infinite variations of Art-Poker. The main consistencies are as follows:

1. Art Poker rounds use extremely specific requirements that are secret until an artist is committed to the round. This creates an objective by which one piece of art may be judged against another. These requirements often get more specific over time. Art that does not meet these obstructions is usually disqualified. (For example: 1. there must be a dog in each picture. 2. each picture must be in black and white, with one color element.

2. Players are present during the judging and may intereact with judges, as well as other players. One of the most important aspects of Art is presentation. Artists, during Art Poker, can choose to present their submissions in any way they choose. This can involve an explanation, a performance, or a discussion. Contestants are also given the option of defending their work, or question another artist, in front of the audience and judges. This discourse is a learning experience similar to that of an art critique.
