FANS RAISE AWARENESS FOR A WORTHY CAUSE

April 11, 2006 - Fans of the WB hit show "One Tree Hill" have joined together in a show of support for their show by raising money and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

A recent storyline on the show involved a young girl's mother succumbing to breast cancer, and a subsequent benefit concert for the NBCF. At the same time, the show released a soundtrack CD, titled "Friends with Benefit", with a portion of the sales going to the charity.

The fan fundraiser idea was quickly embraced by a growing number of viewers, who developed a website and organized online events for the effort. Now in its fourth week of online fundraising events the effort has generated over $3,300 for the NBCF. More events, including eBay auctions, contests, and direct donations, are planned to continue well into May. Organizers say they hope to raise a significant amount of money in the coming weeks for this worthy cause.

"The breast cancer fundraiser is our way of showing our appreciation for One Tree Hill and its own efforts to support awareness of this important issue," says one fan involved in organizing the effort, "With a group of viewers that is largely young and female, this issue is a personal one that could affect the future of many of us. We want the network and the media to know that our show has a large and passionate fanbase that is ready and willing to support its causes."

The "One Tree Hill Fans With Benefit" fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, will run through mid May. For more information or to donate, go to www.othfanswithbenefit.com.
