Word is born; the associated group is finally official! Ultimately, this group is dedicated to the facilitation of dialogue. Here you can post your comments, questions, and concerns about the things that are important to you. This is a place for women of color and their allies to share, network, build community, and keep it real. "Mediated discussion, expression, and education are all values and modes of action that have been misplaced in our society's priority list" (
Anatabooboo), so instead of waiting for someone to give us a space, we are here to take it back and reclaim our voices.
The goal, as stated on the page, is for everyone to participate so the group will be self-maintaining and always fluid. If you are going to participate, I ask you to be considerate in your intent. That does not mean your conversations have to be watered down and I am not asking you to be PC, but what it does mean is that ideas can be structured and expressed respectfully. To further clarify my point, I am not saying you have to agree with the principles of the page and what it is trying to promote, but you can agree to disagree and state your opinion in a manner that is clear, logical and most importantly not hateful. I do not believe in censorship, but I reserve the right to do so... so do not make me go there!
oh yeah, and if you like the group, don't forget to join the page if you havent already
peace
